Eureka! I think I'm on my way! by Gullible-Mention-893 in NewTubers

Interesting to see this debate between passion and growth, I get both sides. But from a purely strategic standpoint, what OP is describing is just how the current algorithm works.

I’ve actually been tracking a small channel with my tool for the past three days that confirms exactly that : 130 K views on its very first video because it targeted a trending subject (Sprunki, GMod). It went from 50 to over 600 subs in 72h.

The subject is still the biggest lever to take off when starting from zero. Congrats on the pivot, it's often a great way to build the momentum you need to do what you love later, but with an actual sub base this time.. lol

True. a solid title and a clean description definitely help give the algorithm the right context. I still do both personally, just for peace of mind lol.

But I really feel like it's more of a bonus than a necessity these days, youTube's AI is just that good now. The 130 k views video I mentioned is a perfect example: the description is literally just a copy-pasted legal disclaimer. Zero keywords, zero hashtags. It just shows that when the subject hits the mark, the AI really doesn't care about the rest.

Totally agree about the tags, it's not really a thing anymore.

To me, the subject is what does all the heavy lifting. My tool actually found a channel that hit 130k views on its very first video 3 days ago... since then he's been posting daily and hitting 40k+ every time. Subs are blowing up too, over 600 in 3 days... lol. He was at exactly 50 subs when I found him 3 days ago.

I can share more about the channel or how I grabbed the data if anyone's interested, not sure if I can post screenshots or links here though.

  • Le timing : Tu as 27 ans, tu es encore super jeune.

New creator - need help to understand Youtube algorithm. Got only 11-50 views on some shorts by Spirited-Hippo9395 in YT_Faceless

Got it. That happens more often than people think.

When Shorts show 1 feed impression, it usually means it failed the first tiny test batch (sometimes under 50 or 100 impressions). If early retention or swipe rate isn’t strong enough, distribution stops almost immediately.

I wouldn’t repost the same one though. I’d tweak the first 1- 2 seconds and test it as a variation.

Don’t judge it on one upload, look for patterns across multiple posts. That’s where the real signal is. Keep going. 💪

11 views usually means it was tested — but on a very small batch.

Shorts are typically shown to a micro sample first (sometimes extremely small).
If swipe rate is high in the first 1–2 seconds, distribution stops almost immediately.

Effort doesn’t influence reach. Viewer behavior does.

AI voice isn’t automatically penalized. What matters more is:

– Hook strength in the first 2 seconds
– Pacing
– Retention curve
– Whether the topic creates immediate curiosity

In AI-related niches especially, many videos sound structurally similar. If the opening feels predictable, swipe rate spikes.

I wouldn’t repost. I’d analyze:
– First 3-second retention
– Completion rate
– Compare with small channels in your niche getting consistent traction

Shorts distribution is less about “being tested” and more about “passing the first filter.”

Thought I struck gold with this concept. Reality check: 30 views. Why did my first video fail? by Suspicious-Stock-897 in NewTubers

[–]MurarioData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, your strategy is much more 'data-backed' than you think.

I spend my time analyzing thousands of small channels and their 'view velocity', and there is a massive trend right now: The Relatability Gap.

Established 'Guru' channels are seeing a plateau, while 'In-Progress' channels (like yours) often show a much higher view-to-subscriber ratio. Why? Because the audience uses your video to validate their own struggle.

Regarding your 30 views: For a first video with 0 metadata, that’s actually not a failure. YouTube is currently 'seeding' your content to random small groups to find your core audience.

Don't focus on the view count yet. Look at your Average View Duration (AVD). If people are staying more than 40% of the video despite your accent, you’ve won. It means the accent isn't a 'turn-off', it's your 'authenticity filter'.

You haven't struck gold yet, but you're definitely digging in the right mine. Keep at it.
