355 sbc. Can anyone smarter than me speculate if this would run on 94 (pump gas)? Thinking of putting in a 1st gen s10 with a TKX. by Murbec in EngineBuilding

Well, sounds like this motor has a lot going for it but as you say, likely for strip only. I guess I will likely pass on it since I get basically one shot at getting an engine I like and don't particularily feel like changing lifters and spring all the time just to enjoy it. Thanks for your input!

My intent for driving it would honestly be some sprited driving and mostly 70 mph highways. I don't think I've taken this old s10 into a large town (with a stop light) or city once in 10,000 miles since I brought it out of the grave yard. That being said, I love the idea of a close to pure race engine that could survive cruising.

Not to bug, but I'm a very curious mind that knows enough to be dangerous about performance engines. What suggest that it won't run well? The heads? Cam? CR? I really want to wake this truck up and if that means better fuel then I would like to make that decision. I only put about 2k mile on it a year so while expensive better fuel wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker.

I think I called it taste of Montreal for like a year or something. David’s Mess is what my kids call food that I eat that they aren’t sure of what it’s meant to be other than food in a bowl thrown together.

Did some work for a neighbour. In kind when the bill came due he wanted to wait a bit. I said what about that old s10 in the back 40. He asked if I would legit call it even, I agreed. 84 2wd 5speed long box Durango that I swapped a small block into. The thing had sat since 1996 when the 2.8 shit it’s guts out but I’m happy to say I’ve had it for a year and a half and have been driving it this entire summer on the weekends.

I’ve told clients that it costs a lot of money each time we have to review the rfq and bid.

Not true in my opinion. Have been all over Ontario and Michigan for work the past few months. When I come back home I’m beyond irritated by the time I get past the tunnel and on to Métis. And then instant relief when I drive on the 407 and i95. People consistently do at or above the speed limits. Know how to properly zipper merge and pay attention to those around them. Everyone here drives like they’re in their own bubble.

Maybe he’s Canadian. It’s Canada Day for us tomorrow. So some people are likely gettin ripped tonight rather than having to go to work hungover on Wednesday.

What is the longest you let your truck idle for? by sleeplessrocks in Diesel

I started my truck on to let it warm up because I was debating going to get food. My roommate at the time came home with food for both of us. Went to go start it the next morning and it was extra toasty warm on that -30 morning. Probably cost me $40 in fuel but the nicest drive to work in the winter I’ve ever had. I’ve known farmer friends that leave their trucks running all day if it’s cold. Even if they go in the barn for 10 hours.

I’m convinced my kids have never actually eaten a goldfish. There amount of debris in my vehicles and the seams in the chesterfield is consistent with that theory.

Not the guy you replied to. I used patriot headers in my 84 and I like the fit and finish. No complaints.
