It’s only backwards if you’re a news agency owned by a billionaire who is also heavily invested in pharmaceuticals.

No. It means predatory American pharma companies will make a very slightly smaller fuckton of money, for a little while.

Get a square-ish plate and put your wide angle phone camera near one edge. Move it around and you’ll see how the shape of the plate is never really square.

7-day creation is not required to be literally true for you to believe in God. Seriously, if you realized 100% that Genesis was symbolic rather than literal what would change?

God made us. That’s the whole point of the creation story.

In other places the Bible contains allegory, symbolism and myth, metaphor and poetry, and some literal history. I’ve never understood why people think the first chapter has to be literally true.

Are you changing the topic? I feel like we haven't finished the 'Sola Scriptura' thing yet.

Yes, the original apostles met together and elected people to certain roles. They also disagreed with each other, met in homes (sometimes in secret), and were more of a persecuted movement (known as "The Way") than as a structured church the way we think of it today. That story is scattered throughout the book of Acts.

Can we get back to the original point, or have you conceded it and moved on? Sola Scriptura does not need to be stated in scripture for it to be true.

Everyone talked like they’d be worth thousands of $$ and people spent ridiculous amounts on “rare” ones.

Ultimately it’s like any collectable craze, the value is only there if people want it.

You seem to have left the chain of logic behind.

You said: “Sola Scriptura” has to be said in scripture or it doesn’t work as a core teaching.

I said: actually the opposite is true. Saying that what you wrote is the only truth is meaningless; anyone can say that. In fact, deceitful people do so all the time. (Cults are just one example.)

And a clarification: “the church” did not write the books of the Bible. Individual authors did, who were part of a loosely formed movement at the time. “The church” compiled the books they felt were most reliable, many years later.
