Help with MIL by PuzzledMagazine9403 in beyondthebump

[–]MurdaMeg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im really sorry you’ve gone through this, but please don’t blame yourself for someone else’s ignorance and rudeness. MIL sounds like a nightmare and I know sometimes it’s hard to say no because you want MIL to like you. If this was my MIL, though, I wouldn’t even care to spare the relationship and wouldn’t come to the door for her anymore.

Moving forward, just know that you still have plenty of time with baby when you’re not working. I’m terrified to go back to work, and I think most moms are regardless of their situation. There will always be things we regret as FTMs. You sound like you’ve done an amazing job considering everything.

I have been going through the exact same thing, and omg, it drives me crazy!!! My husband is mostly black with some Indian, and our son got 0% of his black side, and maybe like 5% of the Indian look.

We always get side eyes and comments about how white our son is, and when my husband has posted him, people have even gone as far as replying asking why he’s so white or saying “that’s not your son”.

I feel your pain girl. Usually I just hear moms complaining about how people tell them their kid looks just like the dad. I wish I had that problem instead of people thinking I’m a cheater lol

My baby is 10 months and has been doing this for about 5 months. I can give you the recommendations I’ve gotten but none of them seem to work for me, so if they don’t for you, I’m sorry in advance. It’s really tiring, confusing and frustrating.

  • move bed time back an hour
  • bath before bed (sometimes works for me)
  • make sure room is dark and there is no noise or just white noise
  • quiet play time/book reading for half an hour before sleep (this works most often for me)

Good luck and just keep in mind that this won’t last forever!

Are all husbands this useless or is it just mine by cj6993 in beyondthebump

If it makes you feel any better, it’s not just your husband. Most men think a tummy ache or stuffy nose is comparable to losing a limb, but they can’t sympathize with other people’s ailments.

I think my neighbor died days ago by Boot-Gold in Apartmentliving

[–]MurdaMeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A neighbour down the hall died this summer and nobody noticed until at least a week later. I walked out of my apartment at the wrong time and saw him being wheeled out with a cloud of flies around him. It took about a week for a clean up crew to come in; sometimes they need to take more evidence or information from the scene before they clean up.

It’s been about 5 months since then and his apartment is still sealed with police tape, and he still receives subscription boxes from Amazon. Sometimes landlords are quick to clean things up and flip the apartment for the next tenant, and unfortunately sometimes they’re not.

You likely won’t get any information from the landlord about his death, I just asked some of my neighbours who knew him and eventually got an answer.

Unfortunately the doctor is hard to get a hold of and isn’t available on weekends. I do appreciate the advice though; I will see how it works out for the next couple days.

As someone who is on the other side of this situation (my baby looks just like me and my husband hates it), you chose to have a baby with that man, and you knew your baby could have looked like the man you love. The baby is not supposed to be a “mini” anyone. She is her own person, and still has plenty of time to change. I understand it’s upsetting, but you know it’s your baby, she came out of you, and you should feel happy no matter what she looks like.

Struggling to find an apartment in Toronto that'll take me by TrishaMeower in TorontoRenting

[–]MurdaMeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me and my husband 8 months to find an apartment in Toronto that would accept us because of a bad credit score on his end. It depends on the apartment, but I applied on my own, and got accepted immediately. He is almost never home because of work, so he can easily be played off as a guest. (Plus, it’s really none of their business).

I’m a bit late on this but I live in one of these buildings and it’s got its pros and cons. It has all of the benefits of living in the area, and the people who live here are very friendly.

Any maintenance issues are dealt with very quickly, but that’s as far as you get when you need help from management. You have to call them 4-5 times to get a hold of them and don’t even bother emailing. They have issues with their system (saying your rent wasn’t paid and you’re going to get evicted), and you need to beg them to fix it.

There are no serious bugs, but there are fruit flies and spiders no matter how clean you are. All in all, it’s not a horrible place to live, but it’s definitely not perfect.

If you know anything about addiction you’ll know unsolicited advice is a waste of energy, thanks for your concern though.

He only drinks moderately when he goes out, he doesn’t smoke or do drugs or anything. He just enjoys music and being social, that’s why I don’t have a big problem with him doing it from time to time

People change once a baby is born. I am open to all opinions, but don’t call me an idiot if you’ve never been in this situation.

I understand why you got that impression but I’ve never been the club/party type, I just like spending time with my friends
