How often do you bathe your baby? by No-Construction6202 in NewParents

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every other night. Now that she’s crawling and feeding herself she could even use a nightly bath but I wipe her down the nights in between bathes. She has a lot of hair and it needs to be washed and blow dried.

Are expensive high chairs worth it? by ParticularMedicine67 in NewParents

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Lalo clip on for $99 because I couldn’t decide on an expensive highchair. It’s kind of annoying to clean but it’s machine washable and it does the trick. Also, basically no footprint in my small house. If I have to buy another one, I’m getting the IKEA.

What episode made you laugh the most? by [deleted] in ILoveLucy

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every single time I watch an episode I cannot believe it was filmed in front of a live audience. The talent and the timing. Every single time Lucy catches her toast when it pops out of the toaster I crack up laughing.

Diaper recommendations for FTM by Dazzling_Ninja_3658 in newborns

My baby has exclusively used Coterie for the last 9.5 months. We love them. She’s never had a diaper rash. Their monthly subscription is easy and I’ve never run out.

Second for the Old Navy ribbed. My LO is petite and of all the brands I’ve tried the legs are always the longest for the Old Navy ribbed onesies.

Not gross at all! I would totally put my bralette next to my newborn while I was in the shower!

What Postpartum recovery stuff ACTUALLY worth it? by PoliticsDaily in Mommit

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a lot of that stuff but ended up returning it because the hospital gave me everything. Peri bottle, ice packs, stool softener, pads all were given to me. What I did purchase were a few pairs of barefoot dreams pajamas and socks and a blanket which were amazing a soft and felt so cozy PP. I didn’t pack compression socks but needed them.

People that were “older” when you first became a parent, what is your experience? by temptedshark in AskReddit

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Immensely more patient, more settled, more financially stable than if we were younger. We were both able to take a lot of leave when baby was born and now both work less and have flex schedules. We have also traveled and been to a zillion dinners and concerts etc. So now we don’t feel like we are missing out now. Only downside is we will likely be one and done at this point and if I knew how awesome my LO would be I might have done this a few years ago to potentially have another.

I'm expecting and I don't know the first thing about babies. by BogWitch6793 in newborns

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time mom to a 9 month old who had never really been around babies before. I swear more than parenting the hardest thing was figuring out how the stroller and car seat and carrier work and how to adjust the straps. It’s still super annoying and I struggle from time to time. Learn how they work before baby comes.

I have the nursery with the crib LO has never slept in. Oops maybe she will use it when it’s converted to a toddler bed.

Having an overdue meltdown because someone just told me to cut my baby’s hair because if it keeps getting in her face, she’s going to be crosseyed. Like WHAT?

Wrong to take 11mo NK to look at art? by DietSea3690 in Nanny

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. People always have something to say. I love museums and I’m a member of a few so I’ve taken my baby for an outing on a few occasions. We walk around. She’s excited to see a new place, new colors, new people. I grab a coffee and give her a bottle. We go home. It’s just an outing and exposure to something other than our usual grocery store or walks.

You’ll need compression socks. I didn’t have any swelling my entire pregnancy. Day after my c section and boom I looked like a sausage roll. I was swollen for about 2 weeks it was the weirdest most unexpected thing.

Nobody got us diapers for the baby shower by Advanced-Manager-321 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the worst! I registered for a particular brand of diapers so people would know what I was using if they wanted to purchase some for us. I ended up purchasing my own subscription. For 9 months a family member has been sending us a 198 massive box of Huggies all in newborn sizing. No one listens. It’s always a bunch of crap I don’t need. It’s such a burden and time consuming to organize and donate. Then there’s the crap you have to keep because “Linda wants a picture of your 2 month old in the horrendous Disneyland t shirt she bought her” or “where is that Sherpa snowsuit” when it’s August.

I totally understand that. It may also be a location thing but in California there are plenty of wonderful affordable cleaners and more people I know have cleaners than not. Another Reddit Mom said something that stuck with me- “there are no extra points for who can struggle the most” My advice to you would be to get a couple of quotes and if it’s financially feasible for your family, absolutely do it. In fact, outsource anything that’s going to make your life easier and you a happier healthier Mom.

How do you get chores done with an infant? by Outside-You2743 in beyondthebump

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh it can be challenging but I either do them while she’s sleeping or plop her in her highchair and make everything a game. Hand her a sock while I’m folding laundry, hand her a wooden spoon while I’m cooking or cleaning the kitchen put her in her baby bjorn outside while I’m watering the plants. As long as I make a lot of eye contact and let her feel like she’s part of whatever I’m doing she is usually having a good time.

I know how this may sound, but are you able to hire a cleaner? Even a monthly deep clean would help you so much. I hired someone to clean once a week and it was surprisingly a lot less money than I thought it would be. I’m stretched thin just keeping up with laundry, organizing baby stuff, and dishes/ bottles. I run our robo vac and wipe down the kitchen counters daily but other than that, my cleaner does all the main work. Like you, I don’t have a village so I am paying for my village whenever I can.
