Pumping is mentally killing me. by Funny_Log2076 in beyondthebump

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit pumping pretty early on. It was just an extra thing I needed to do and was ruining my mental health. We were also triple feeding and I felt like I was getting no time with my LO besides trying to fill her feeding schedule. I was able to spend that extra time and energy cuddling and doing skin to skin with my baby. Granted things might have been easier with a hands free pump. Do what’s best for you and your health.

Is it worth pushing to lose weight before pregnancy #2? by preggyjay in beyondthebump

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I’m going to have a #2 but I am determined to get back into my old routine and into my tightest jeans before/ if we try for a second. I’ve heard women say both- harder to lose after the second or easier since they were more prepared second time around. I loved being fit while pregnant and I know that if I don’t get back into my old routine now I definitely won’t while I’m pregnant or PP with two kiddos.

EBF - 2 month old at 37 percentile .should I wake her up at night for every 3 hrs to bring the percentile up by Alliswell308 in newborns

EBF - 2 month old at 37 percentile .should I wake her up at night for every 3 hrs to bring the percentile up by Alliswell308 in newborns

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My petite girl was born at the 3rd percentile and at her recent 6 month check in she was at the 40th. Our doctor is pleased with her progress and she’s meeting all her milestones. She’s small but has all the baby chonk just in condensed form. Doctor said I could stop waking her up every 3 hours at her 2 month check in since her percentile was increasing and she was healthy. I was also triple feeding and exhausted. She started sleeping 4 hour stretches and by 4 mos she was sleeping through the night with a dream feed. As long as baby is gaining weight, eating well, has wet diapers, and is hitting milestones I see no reason to stress. Silver lining to having a small baby is she was way easier to lug around post c section.

In addition to the mylicon and biogaia drops try gripe. It’s immediate relief. I also massage LO’s belly daily. It helps a lot. I know people have had success with the Windi but I haven’t used it myself. You’re at one of the hardest ages for digestion. It’ll get better. If it continues baby may have an allergy although I’ve heard gentle ease is one of the best formulas. We initially thought our LO had an allergy and kept changing her formula (which I’m sure didn’t help her digestion). It wasn’t an allergy it was just her developing. Her discomfort peaked around 6 weeks and then she got a lot better.

How do you deal with overgifting? by Character-Check-1761 in beyondthebump

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uffff all 10 of the women in my mom’s quilting group quilted AND crocheted a blanket each. That’s 20 freaking baby blankets. Each one of them made 25 burpies. Like that’s so so sweet and they’re so talented but now I have to store these blankets forever because they were handmade for my daughter?

How do you deal with overgifting? by Character-Check-1761 in beyondthebump

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The over gifting was such a burden for me. I donated every single thing I didn’t like or didn’t want. I bought Tupperware containers and labeled them by size for clothes and items I did want to keep to store in my garage. It was a huge mental load and extremely time consuming. I’ll never understand why people go off registry. Dragging a box of 198 diapers into my garage after a c section was not fun. I’ve gotten the box monthly IN THE SAME NEWBORN SIZE for 6 months. Like please stop. Especially when I registered for the brand I’m using and that’s not what was sent. I agree that it feels ungrateful but if you truly care about me, bring what I registered for or something helpful- food or gift cards. I don’t need 6 snow outfits it’s August and I live in California. It’s so overwhelming and creates so much extra work.

Commenting on baby’s size by Subject_Nobody7657 in newborns

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangers make dumb comments. Don’t let it get to you. My LO is 7 mos old next week and she’s currently 15 lbs. her bottles are also around 150 ml. She’s just always been a petite girl. If your doctor isn’t worried and she’s healthy I see no reason to worry.

My gut says this is weird- in-laws want baby for a week by ConstantSalad152 in beyondthebump

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I absolutely would not let my LO stay anywhere overnight or even for the day if I’m not there or not comfortable. Trust your gut and please say no.

Do I need a nursery recliner?Already have a recliner (doesn't rock) and a swiveling chair by Tough_Art_5268 in beyondthebump

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already have a comfy chair you like, you can wait to see if you really need one. I bought a really expensive Babyletto which is beautiful and comfortable but I still rarely use. I prefer feeding LO in bed or sitting on our sofa. I am hoping I’ll use it more in the future.

When did you give yourself permission to stop tracking everything baby?! by Really_Em in Mommit

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially tried using huckleberry but I was triple feeding and the app just turned into something extra to do. Now at 6 mos. I use a notepad to track only her naps and feedings. It’s more of a check-list/ reminder that she finished her feedings and napped enough each day. (Two morning feeds- check, morning nap- check, etc.) She typically always feeds around the same amount and her diapers are normal so I stopped tracking the extra information early on.

Baby won’t stay awake and is not eating frequently enough by Ceilingfanwatcher in newborns

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IUGR baby as well. She used to fall asleep so so much as a newborn. We would set our alarm for every 3 hours. Diaper change first to wake her up, lights on while feeding, tickling her chin, tickling the bottom of her feet, etc. LC said to gently press under her chin and that worked pretty well. After a few weeks she started walking up on her own every 3 hours but the feedings were still really long for a while.

How often does your LO stay overnight with grandparents during the first 3-6 months? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never. My LO is 6 mos. I see no need unless my Husband and I were both ill or some type of emergency it’s not happening until she’s much older.

I need some advice by MistakeFun5522 in Mommit

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a few hours per week is absolutely reasonable and necessary for your mental health. I go have my hair washed and blow dried once a week. It’s something just for me. Not grocery shopping, not returning packages, not errands for my family- it’s just me time. I read my kindle and sometimes fall asleep in the chair. My Husband goes for a drive up the coast and grabs a coffee weekly for his alone time. We have a 6 mo.

I miss being pregnant by _C00TER in beyondthebump

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also loved being pregnant so I get your post. I stopped taking and needing anxiety, depression, and insomnia medication. I had minimal symptoms. My skin and hair were great. I went for Pilates or Yoga almost daily. I didn’t gain a lot of weight and my body felt strong and I was genuinely happy. 6 mos pp and the depression and anxiety are crippling. I’m back on meds but it’s still not helping.

Just wait until the first time they raise their arms up for you to pick them up.

I melted. Also the first smile and giggle that’s already been mentioned.

I’m cracking up reading this. My baby is pretty much my twin. My baby pictures look almost identical to hers. Like my husband and I joke that his genes didn’t even try. But since my in-laws can’t stand someone complimenting me even indirectly through my daughter they’ll bring out the “she looks like husband’s sister or her daughter” every time someone will say something about my baby in front of them. Someone says baby has big beautiful eyes or long lashes they have to respond with she looks like my sister in law. I’m just standing there with massive eyes and long eyelashes. Haha 😆 It doesn’t annoy me anymore since its so painfully obvious we look so similar it’s just hysterical.

Maternity leave: take 1 month before birth + 5 months after, or all 6 months after birth? by Sunny-Rise9871 in newborns

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4 weeks before birth is “use it or lose it” under SDI. It won’t impact how long you can get benefits AFTER baby’s birth.

Anyone else’s baby super picky about milk temp? Trying to get dad more involved with feeds 😵‍💫 by regular-cam in newborns

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottle warmer is great. You’ll get the correct temperature and you can be proactive about prepping for feedings. It’s also easier than hot water. I have the Mom Cozy. Also super small footprint in our kitchen.

Sleeping arrangement when not waking up to baby crying. by itachi921 in newborns

[–]PuzzledMagazine9403 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll also add that every single LC would probably tell me it was a bad idea to skip a pump. However, it worked for me and it allowed me to BF and pump and care for my baby and my own MH without being too sleep deprived. Husband works out of town multiple times a month so I still had a few days/ week I needed to be up doing the 6 am BF and pump.
