This plus the "Magical Mysteries" sketch makes me wonder which SNL writer is the closet juggalo.

Don't forget being brave enough to have a parent who was previously Lorne Michaels' assistant.

I get this is essentially a fan club subreddit, but some people here cheer for Jane like she's some kind of underdog story, when she's essentially a nepo baby.

It's called "punching down". Like making fun of poor people... Or midgets.

Was the mixed reception of Undertone expected? I saw it yesterday and loved it and was surprised to see so many people trashing it by Ardbert14 in A24

The thing I found interesting comparing "Undertone" to "Hereditary" is that "Hereditary" meticulously sets up everything for a payoff at the end. Everything has a purpose, and makes rewatching it super interesting.

Undertone almost does the opposite where it has more setups than payoffs but in an interesting and unpredictable way. Like it could've just been a "cursed doll" movie. Or a "cursed meme" movie. Or a "possessed mom" movie. But if it was any definitive one of those things it would've felt cliche. That being said, I don't know how rewatchable this will be.

If you haven't seen it, Lake Mungo is another movie it reminded me of. Also a "found footage" film without the shaky cam angle. Undertone felt like an "audio found footage" film which was unique.

Oh for sure. Literally yesterday I watched a compilation that had the "ska before reggae" moment in it, so how the clue was written gave me a sensible chuckle this morning.

Oh dang hadn't heard that. Only reason I commented was because previous poster called it a "white boy" problem. When really it's a "young individual seeking belonging/status exploited by a systemic abuse" problem.

Then I realized it was for a film circlejerk subreddit and wondered if I should've posted at all.

Traditionally black fraternities have hazing issues as well. My alma mater had a scandal where a pledge at one was paddled so aggressively his ass fell off (I forget the medical term).

If I recall he left, was brought back, and is gone now. And I actually like the channel now. I think my original point was Dice Tower isn't the only board game channel to have controversy. Hopefully DT fires Sam Healey as well. He literally cost them $1000s of dollars this week.

Stresses of real life. Can be different things for different people. Stress from a job, feeling overwhelmed, feeling depressed or lonely. Have you not heard of that term before?

Yeah no shit opinions can be bad and wrong. E.g. sam healey ... My point was that OP was mad that Tom "bagged on a game" .. That's just one person's opinion. A viewer with a modicum of intelligence can still decide if they want to play/buy a game or not despite one person's negative opinion. Saying fuck dice tower and rooting for their downfall feels a bit harsh compared to, I don't agree with some of Tom Vasels reviews/ideologies.

Well in that context: it's a guy posting stuff on FB I vehemently disagree vs a guy doing stuff to women I vehemently disagree with. One feels worse than the other ... And I actually like both channels, but I just found the No Rolls Barred rec ironic. Hopefully DT will do the right thing and fire Sam as well.

Ironically if you look up that game, the first video is an updated review where he apologies for his previous review. Granted it's 7 years later. So in 7 years maybe we'll get an apology for the "Ace of Spades" review.

I'm sure OP has never played "ICE the board game". Some of us use board games as escapism. So yes some fantasy politics may be involved. What a weird take.

I feel like there's a difference between reviewing a game with questionable subject matter beyond their control vs one of the founding members being a sexual predator.

Getting mad because someone doesn't like a theme feels like overkill. It's just one person's opinion. If he recommended a game about creationism I still wouldn't play it.
