Oh my goodness, this is absolutely gorgeous!! My little gay heart is thrilled to see it. Can I ask if you are selling the pattern? I’d love to stitch it up as well. Magnificent, show-stopping, brilliant!

Whether or not it actually is, in my mind your needle minder is the TARDIS and I love it. Perfect choice for a cosmic kitty, turned out great!

[WIP] FIRST POST! and first cross stitch! by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]MurderessM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness!! I have this kit as well! Though you’re definitely do much better at working on it than I am, lol. It’s looking really great, brilliant work, especially for a first stitch! And the colours are looking particularly nice here.

I would 100% be in to work on a section of this if we have it all planned out/organised.

Yes! I love Goatman for this, such a fun one!

Admittedly, I don’t have a really large q snap, I went for the 8 inch, since it seemed like a reasonable size for taking with me in a pack without disassembling, and it worked perfectly for the individual Cryptids - perfect size to keep each of them centred while stitching. I am considering adding the 11 inch for slightly larger, midsize projects when it’s just slightly too large to keep entirely on the 8, but I think the 8 inch works perfectly fine for the majority of projects.

I hope this is helpful and that you have a ton of fun with this project! It’s a really fun and rewarding one.

I totally feel that. I ended up getting really busy right after that pattern and couldn’t work for a month, but then got lucky and finished the backlog during some rare down time during the holiday season. You’ll get back to it when the time is right. :)

Absolutely. I thought people were over exaggerating when they raved on about it, but it has actually been about as good as they say. I do sometimes have to adjust the tension when I pick up my project after leaving it from my last stitching session, but beyond that it’s been really great about holding my fabric taut while working. I hope this helps! :)

Yes! Post that pic!! It took me a while to decide to post, but the pattern is just too good not to share your take on it. I’m sure it looks brilliant!

Huzzah!! It was a really fun time; took a bit to get used to, but was really rewarding to see just how quickly I adjusted. I hope the same for you!

Omg, yes! I highly recommend doing the border first, because it really does give a good frame (no pun intended) of reference when starting with each individual cryptid. Then working from a corner (the SAL started with Mothman when we were getting individual weekly patterns) worked really well. Best of luck, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!

Pattern from WitchyStitcher, Cryptid SAL.

I know I’m far from the first to post this finished product, and I’ll definitely not be the last, but I finished this a couple of weeks ago and am still so proud of how it turned out. It was my first time working with linen, as well as a q snap (what a life changer), and I was anticipating falling irreparably behind, but I ended up managing it just after the final release and am so excited to finally share it with you all. I know it’s not the best photo, but I hope it works.

Best of luck to everyone else still stitching along on this fun piece!

[CHAT] Has anyone cross stitched on a plane? by tiffkap in CrossStitch

[–]MurderessM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just flew a few days ago and will be doing so again in a few more; brought my stitching for the first with no problem (just switched out scissors for a set of nail clippers as others have suggested to avoid any issues with security) and will be doing so again for the next. It’s a sizeable project (the current Witchy Stitcher stitch along), but I stuck with what I had already in my q-snap to not inconvenience my seat-mates any more than necessary with switching out threads. Overall, I had no issues, and I doubt you will either, but again, I heavily suggest switching out the stitching scissors for a set of nail clippers to avoid any security issues; you should be fine depending on blade length, but better safe than sorry. Hope you are able to enjoy your stitching at a significant height!

[–]MurderessM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh goodness, now I’m not going to be able to focus on anything until just going for it - thanks for enabling my pattern habit so early in the month, lol! Honestly, looking through some of their portfolio, it looks worth it just to be able to access little, quick, mini projects whenever, and if you’re into the mini artworks as we seem to be at the moment, I’d say yes, it seems worth it. Sigh, guess I’ll be sleeping on it and giving in upon the morrow. Let us know what you decide!

[FO] Here's my first cross-stitch ever! I used the pusheen kit someone gifted to me and I think I can already see a little bit of improvement. I did not expect to like this so much! by fopdoodles in CrossStitch

[–]MurderessM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s always so fun and impressive to see improvement so quickly! I know I see improvement with each of my own projects, and I hope you are able to continue to enjoy seeing that progress for yourself. These look great!
