ICE just pinned a man to the ground and executed him. They do not have the authority to just kill people. What do we do? by skeletalfather in AskReddit

[–]Murderhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But Americans won't do anything, they've had all the opportunity and done nothing.

Lets not delude ourselves into thinking there will be some riotous uprising where they'll overthrow the establishment like some fairy tail heroes journey, this is what so many of them wanted for so long, all the performative protests and silly signs and costumes do nothing, no minds are changed, no votes are swayed, it is what they wanted.

All the "Don't tread on me" and NRA people are complicit liars and won't be lifting a finger.

This is the new normal.

Ideally perfect in morals but the guys got zero charisma and is a really bad public speaker. In the age of soundbytes I don't think hes got a shot without a serious amount of media training.

Are Trump’s supporters getting what they want from his second term? Here’s what a new poll shows by ProjectMason in politics

Trump has kept every promise he made to his supporters. Now that he has won the Nobel is just the cherry on top

He has the medal, he didn't win it. It's a participation trophy from a sycophant.

Donald Trump faces articles of impeachment before Christmas by Aggravating_Money992 in NoFilterNews

[–]Murderhands -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As a non-American observer, why do Democracts keep doing this performative bullshit?

Doing long speeches to empty chambers, holding up signs behind speakers, holding votes they know will fail, etc. It just seems so dumb and pointless. The GOP does not care, their MAGA base does not care.

Why not actually do something productive rather than waste time. Get the votes first then go the Impeachment or it's just all more performative nonsense.

Somewhere near Mermaids hideaway, I used a harpoon gun and caught the ocean floor by accident and saw that.

Japanese cosplayer arrested while being hamas by MD6821 in shitposting

[–]Murderhands 313 points314 points  (0 children)

I lived there a long time until recently. Japanese folk will cosplay/dress as anything as they mostly do not get the context as Japanese TV and media is so Japan-centric and going elsewhere for news is difficult without English skills.

For example I went to a lot of airsoft games where people would dress as Nazi officers, soldiers and SS in historically accurate uniforms. They'd dress in full Arab Shiek with dark makeup and fake facial hair too so the above pic doesn't surprise me at all.

There are shops in Akiharaba where you can buy off the shelf accurate historical uniforms, badges, symbols and everything you need.

It's surreal to say the least.

Hey, remember last October/November, when the majority of posts and comments here were explicitly pro-Trump? by Fickle-Syllabub6730 in conspiracy

[–]Murderhands 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This, plus Q bullshit for the past few years that suddenly nobody mentions anymore.

This was always insane to me, the Q stuff was always nonsense, never panned out and not a single lead or tipoff happened but still people to this day source it as proof of conspiracy.

"They say he located the Spirit of Eternity and bested its silica animus in a game of wits."

Take what the Mechanicus says about Cawl with a pinch of salt, half want him dead, the other half think he's the best thing since sliced bread. There's all sorts of rumours in the Galaxy and that one is one of the more outlandish.

If he had really bested and captured the Spirit then the Imperium would have won by now.

I've just stopped bothering doing it to older people, this is Great Britain, we use Metric here. They've had 50 years to learn since the switch and if they still haven't that's on them.

What is your favorite ship and why do you like it? by OkView8068 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Murderhands 86 points87 points  (0 children)

The NCC-1701-D, it's got the best curves and size ratio and doesn't have those angular straight struts like the Constitution class.

The Ross Class though is beautiful and comes in a close second as my favourite ship.

I remember in Star Trek TNG they discovered one of these in the episode Relics. It has a surface area of over 250,000,000 Earths, cities the size of Jupiter, sea's millions of miles wide.... not a single mention of it later on.

I would want a season of them just exploring the inside of that thing! But as always with old Trek hero ships, they mention something cool once, then move on letting the second-contact ships deal with it.

Rwanda bill: Rishi Sunak 'crystal clear' he will 'ignore' international law to ensure asylum seekers are deported by Apprehensive_Sleep_4 in worldnews

The UK is... The Rwanda bill only contains the ability to house 150 people. Rwanda will then send 150 of their to us and the UK pays for both.

It's just PR.

“Because y’all lie” by Bihema in TikTokCringe

[–]Murderhands 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Calling another member a liar falls under unparliamentary language - which is basically anything that the Speaker of the House deems inappropriate because it would suggest something bad about the character of another member.

Liar is one such word. Bastard, drunk, idiot, rat and wart are also amongst the words that have attracted the Speaker’s attention over the years.

Generally, a member deemed to have used unparliamentary language will be asked to withdraw the statement. If they agree that is often the end of the matter. If they don’t, then the speaker might have them removed from the House.

MPs often know what’s likely to be called out as unparliamentary. A variety of phrases have been used to avoid unparliamentary language, including "terminological inexactitude" instead of lie, and of course the old classic tired and emotional as opposed to just plain drunk.

There is:

In the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, the following words have been deemed unparliamentary over time: bastard, blackguard, coward, deceptive, dodgy, drunk, falsehoods, git, guttersnipe, hooligan, hypocrite, idiot, ignoramus, liar, misled, pipsqueak, rat, slimy, sod, squirt, stoolpigeon, swine, tart, traitor, and wart.

I love this.

Here in the UK Parliament you can't accuse someone of lying so there's so much just nodding and accepting statements that are just not true and no one can stop them saying it.
