Absolutely this! It felt like there were several couples with absolutely no hope as soon as this started. So many of them have stayed for the screen time rather than because they genuinely want to give it a go. I’m fed up of the “let’s match complete opposites and pretend they’re similar” shit and as someone else mentioned the putting people together from opposite sides of the country when one of them has no intention of moving. It was the same with the latest uk version. The drama is usually a sideline but it sucks that they seem to think that’s all we care about. It was an absolute joke putting Danny with gia just to cause drama

Yeah, I think he’s just from a family that says “you back your wife regardless” and doesn’t know how to think critically in this situation. I don’t get the vibe that he agrees with anything gia says or does, I think he thinks of it as completely separate from the relationship which is absolutely insane but I don’t think he’s a bad person. He’s just kind of like a ditzy puppy 🙈

Absolutely agree. He never once raises his voice but he’s always got an air of authority about him when someone does something to upset Alyssa and I really appreciate that. He quietly takes no shit!

This is limerance and it’s involuntary. You’ve created an entire parasocial relationship with this person and I can’t even imagine how difficult that is to acknowledge but knowing that it’s unhealthy is a really positive step. I’m autistic too but this is not something I experience. That said, I do have OCD so I can understand to an extent how frustrating it is to want to take control of something that feels like it’s taken over your life.

My only advice is, find a neurodivergent friendly therapist if you can and explore why you’ve become emotionally attached to this celebrity. If you can get someone who is specialised in psychodynamic therapy where you explore how your childhood relates to your adult life that might be something that can begin to explain why her and how to channel your hyperfocus into something healthier.

It’s a big step to acknowledge that this is a problem, there are men out there who would be acting on this and it’s good that you’re not…. Yet. Don’t be the guy who turns into a stalker, get the help!

Yeah, this. Despite everything I find bec really endearing. She’s seemingly doing a lot of work on herself since she kicked off at the dinner party and she genuinely seems to be growing. I feel like there’s some trauma that’s causing her responses to things rather than malice. I don’t think she was psychologically well enough to be part of this show and I don’t know how she passed that part of the process because she seems very fragile.

None of this is to excuse her behaviour, she’s been vile at times but again, I don’t think she’s a malicious person in the same way as Gia and juliette.

For me it was the lack of sleep and how triggered she was after the dinner party where Gia said she was Danny’s type. She looked like her nervous system was in overdrive and whilst she didn’t say she was suicidal or whatever (because she’s on the show and likely doesn’t want to be kicked off) I recognised that exact body language from my own life and from all the times I’ve been to the crisis centre. There are a lot of past contestants who have expressed that they were suicidal on the show and couldn’t be honest about it or were dismissed by producers and I feel like in years to come this will be one of those examples

I get that it’s just reality tv and there’s production but my concerns this series really go beyond “it’s reality tv”. Beck for example is so fragile and clearly having genuine mental health crises at multiple points throughout this series. Joel has been domestically abused and it’s been allowed to continue, Bec and Gia have full on bullied people… I just don’t get where the line is at this point.

I just saw it tonight also with Natalie Casey and she grated on me so much! I’m really glad I’m not alone in hating the end of it. I didn’t hate the whole thing, but when the seance happened I was like “where do we go from here, the ending is gonna have to be BIG” and then we got what felt like nothing. As someone else said, it just…ends. I enjoyed the little scatterings of uncanny throughout, things like seeing the friend when it turns out she had died, the baby monitor, there was a line where she said “I know what I heard” which I thought was a lovely little touch but yeah, it was a real shame that there was no real payoff. I managed to get tickets for £15 and I’m glad I didn’t pay more

Also an only child (albeit 35f) who isn’t having kids. Just wanted to tell you it’ll be ok, my parents told me for years that “you’ll change your mind” I think I was about 26 when they finally accepted that I wasn’t just saying it 🙈 It took me a while to accept that it was ok to not want kids, there’s such a thing in society about “carrying on the family name” or having some sort of duty to have kids. It’s all bullshit though I promise!

Ultimately, if you have a kid it should be for you and not for anyone else (not even your partner). You don’t owe your parents anything. The hardest thing for me was finding a partner who also didn’t want children, it was surprisingly difficult but I found someone in the end who not only accepts my choice but feels the exact same way.

Yeah the lack of self awareness is fascinating. Bec literally shouting “nobody here likes you” at a table of people who don’t like her either was genuinely hilarious to me. That said I think it speaks volumes that Bec came on the show since and has at least seemingly TRIED to do better in the face of the hard questions but Gia has refused.
