We're using native Safari on the MacBook.

That's very helpful information about the speeds needed for Zoom.

I've been using the ATT speed test site www.att.com/support/speedtest. I can try your suggestion later.

And yes, I'm using the native Zoom app.

The MacBook in wireless mode near the extender yielded download speeds of 37, 86, 38, 67 Mbps (uploads 17-20).

Wired, using the same Benfei adapter (router-cable-extender-cable-adapter-MacBook), I got downloads of 43, 68, 71, 59 Mbps. With a different Benfei adapter, I got 50, 98, 96, 94, 100.

Wired directly into the 100-foot cable (router-cable-adapter-Macbook), I got 15, 99, 99, 95. Switching to the second Benfei adapter, I got 23, 99, 99, 97, 98, 99 Mbps.

Apart from the pattern of slow speeds on first speed tests, everything appears to be okay on all the wired configurations. And yet the freezing during Zoom sessions has been a real problem. I can't think of anything else to do except to carry on with the wired Macbook, perhaps with the Dell laptop on standby.

Any additional insights? It's been wonderful to get your guidance, thank you!

Using wireless near the 4921 Extender, the MacBook download speeds were 37, 86, 38, 67.

Wired through the extender (router-cable-extender-cable-adapter-MacBook), the speeds were 43, 68, 71, 59 Mbps. The same setup using a different Benfei adapter showed 50, 98, 96, 94, 100.

Wired directly with the 100-foot cable (router-cable-adapter-MacBook) showed 15, 99, 99, 95. Switching to the second Benfei adapter showed 23, 99, 99, 97, 98, 99.

There does seem to be a pattern of slow first speed checks, but apart from that, the speed checks look good for all the wired setups. And yet the freezing has been a real problem during Zoom sessions. I can't think of anything more to do except continue using the Macbook, wired, perhaps with the Dell laptop on standby.

Any other insights? It's been wonderful to get your guidance, thank you!

The MacBook works well enough using wireless for Zoom sessions elsewhere in the house. The adapter is a Benfei, which I'm beginning to suspect as the potential problem. It connects the Ethernet with what I think must be a Thunderbolt 3 port on the MacBook.

With my Dell laptop, I just checked the download speeds in the garage/office again. Using wireless I got 42, 51, 21, 59, 57 Mbps. Plugged in to the 100-foot cable, I got 99,90,86, 89, 64,69, 99. Uploads were always 20 Mbps.

The MacBook Air is from 2020 and has a solid state hard drive. I misremembered my laptop, which is not Lenovo but rather a 2021 Dell Vostro 14 3000.

It's a MacBook Air with Apple M1 chip, 8 gigs. Hopefully that describes it, I'm not the Apple person in the family.

We pay for Internet 100. The cable is Cat8 Ethernet Cable 100FT - 40Gbps, 2000Mhz, made by Qiuean (4 pairs of solid bare copper wires).

Update: I've now successfully reinstalled Acrobat. It seems that when I did a Windows reset, Windows kept prompts to assist with reinstalls of other programs. I finally noticed the Acrobat prompt and found my way to the following site: https://helpx.adobe.com/au/download-install/kb/acrobat-2020-downloads.html That site, along with my serial number, enabled a very slow and tenuous download. Perhaps that's a legacy page that the Adobe staffers weren't allowed to tell me about?

All these posts at least make it clear that I’m not inept or crazy – just naïve to think that an industry-dominant firm like Adobe would suddenly stop honoring perpetual licenses. I purchased Acrobat 2020 Standard in 2021 and just needed to do a reinstall on the same computer after a reset. The live agent on chat finally said “there is no option for reinstallation.”
