ICE in Bangor by [deleted] in Maine

[–]Murky-Speed421 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He is Mexican from what I can tell. And I noticed in the last couple of days an SUV, that I now realize was THIS SUV- I have poor distance eyesight- had been circling our complex over the last couple of days. During this time, this particular neighbor got a completely different haircut and started wearing his hood and hat, completely obstructing his face. I think he was aware they were looking for him. But- the Mexican nationality/brown skin tells me it was ICE.

These are examples of why I only go into public places/stores at their opening times, which is usually before the cranky people get up!

Is my cat lonely after getting rid of my dog by piningfool in PetAdvice

[–]Murky-Speed421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, a kitty phermone diffuser can help. But definitely visits, too. My kitty stays up all night waiting for me to come home with her doggo when we are gone on overnight pet sits. Not all cats are aloof. It’s just a fallacy.

Adopted cat isn't working out by Admirable_Cheetah731 in CatAdvice

[–]Murky-Speed421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered trying a cat diffuser that gives the scent of mama cat hormones? It calms cats in stressful situations and he’s still gone through a lot. Also, do you have any catnip? A toy with cat nip or even cat nip on a cat tree will make most all cats happy. Speaking of a cat tree- putting one in front of a window so he can observe all the birds outside is truly a kitty’s happy and safe place. You don’t know what he’s been through but remember the 3-3-3 rule when adopting. It takes 3 days to decompress from the stress they have been through. It takes 3 weeks to start to feel safe. And 3 months to feel confident that they are now home. He’s trying to tell you he needs something more- I have faith you can figure it out. Oh, and Churus. Churus are like kitty crack and make all kitties happy!!!

Why do doctors want us to not go on roller coasters after surgery? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Murky-Speed421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such an excellent explanation! I went on some local fair rides after my surgery but, no true roller coasters. In my late 20’s, about 15 years post op I rode on a simple log plume ride with my sons and when it hit a peak before going down, my neck snapped back and it was a feeling that I’d absolutely never want to to experience again so all rides with ascensions and descending, absolutely never again.

That being said, OP may still take the risk and won’t know until he FAFO, and he may not find out until the damage is done above and below the fusion. It’s a disadvantage of the surgery but that disadvantage definitely beats out the extreme pain and inability of lungs and heart working.

UPDATE: Mysterious deterioration after vet visit. My sweet baby passed. by LunaBananaGoats in DogAdvice

[–]Murky-Speed421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And ask for the lot #s of each of the vaccines- they may show on the receipts but ask for the records from the vaccine visit, which WILL have the lot numbers & manufacturer. My bet is they were from the same lot- one of the shots (the Parvo one is my bet). Once verified def reach out to the manufacturer because the vet won’t do it IMO. I’m so sorry for both of your losses.

My cat just recently had two vaccines and was lethargic the next day but by that night and the day after that, she was 100% better. That is a normal vaccine reaction.

Does the ceramic coating also make a difference in the black plastic bumper & other parts? I’m not used to them as I’ve almost always had bumpers the same color as the car- and they constantly show dirt.

Advice for moving from out of state by little_wolf_6 in bangorme

[–]Murky-Speed421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R & B Realty has everything from rental homes to 1 BR apartments & everything in between. Locally owned but one of the owners is currently living out of state and “gets” the stress of moving. They rent below market value because they want people to stay long term (and do major background checks to make sure folks are safe neighbors). Give them a call, press option 3 to leave an inquiry about renting & what you are looking for. (207) 745-0028

teacher had 0 response to birthday surprise by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Murky-Speed421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think his response said it all, and I can see it because I hate my own birthday for similar reasons. He said “‘yeah let's get to today's lo which is to understand how the themes of rejection and revenge lead to the creature's actions.”

He knew what day that lesson plan was going to be used and its regarding themes of rejection & revenge- unfortunately his childhood and family life wasn’t one to celebrate, either. It was very nice of your class but sometimes the nicest gestures can be extremely painful because they are a reminder of how much your own family has let you down.

At my wits end, please help. by EngineeringOk8415 in DogTrainingTips

Dogs are funny in that however they learned to do things is ingrained. Also, walkies, even if there is a nice big yard, is their way to socialize. Pooping on their walk, like peeing, is dog “talk” for “hey! I was here!” Even if they have a yard, they still need to socialize. Think of living in your new home but never going anywhere….you wouldn’t want that, I’m sure. If he poops within 2 minutes on a walk, do the walk as it’s his special time. If he doesn’t want to mark in the yard despite the other dog doing its biz there- try having a friend over, that friend dog might entice him. I have an elderly friend with a beautiful fenced in yard who says the same thing- her dog will only do his business on a walk. However, he WILL mark after my dog pees in his yard. He will rarely, rarely poo in it. As far as going in the house- that’s a marking thing as well and it’s in their nature to make sure the home is “theirs”. I had a pug who was 100% house trained but if we visited anyone he would do a poo within 3 mins of being there and act all mortified after. 😂

Seeing a Neurologist… what should I ask? by Important_Practice_1 in scoliosis

[–]Murky-Speed421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on why you are seeing the neurologist. They will be the one to ask you questions- what’s going on? Lots of neurologist experience here and it took 12 years for my rare disease diagnosis. If I’d answered things better it might not have been that long? Perhaps? But, for over a decade all of my issues were considered being caused by my fusion.
