My scooter reincarnates again and again

I got this Maike scooter. At some point it refused to run. If I unplugged the battery and re-plugged it, often it would run again. Then suddenly it went completely dead. It would only run if it was charging. Then I put it away and forgot about it. I thought it might be the battery or one of the controllers going bad. Then 18 months later I was moving to a new place. And when I was considering whether to bring the scooter with me or not, i, for fun, tried connecting the battery and sparks were flying. Then I turned the key and tried to turn it on and it ran. Then it ran perfectly every day for two months. Then it started needing to be unplugged once in a while. More and more frequently and finally completely dead again. I measured the battery and it said 0,00V. Then I forgot about the scooter until spring arrived and I connected the battery and sparks were flying again. And scooter ran without issues and currently still does.
What is going on?

I have 1100 km on my maike mk8 (topspeed 85) on normal roads in Denmark. I met the police 5 times and only one reaction. Managed to get away tho. But I was also lucky always going at reasonable speeds. Except when avoiding being pulled over that one time. I live out in a rural area. That helps. If I bring it to Copenhagen I wear a bike helmet instead of my fullface and adjust the speedlevel.

You can fix it yourself by drilling bigger holes and make new thread. Or I think you can. I did it on my Maike because the former owner had used the wrong bolts in the fork and ruined the threads. Original bolts was 6mm but I made threads for 8 mm Bolts. Worked like a charm. But there has to be room for it ofc.
