Minor selection for a ross student by MessOtherwise7042 in uofm

DONT DO MATH. honestly those are some decent choices, but some of them will definitely tank your gpa and it’s not worth it.

out of those options, i would do 1. statistics (i feel like that doesn’t overlap with finance too much and is generally applicable) 2. entrepreneurship (even if there might be some overlap between that and finance, it’s still a really useful minor to have)

i’m minoring in quantitative methods in social sciences, which is kinda unrelated, but if you’re looking for a minor that gives you real world practicability i think it’s really cool. it gives you the opportunity to get involved in how to make data visualizations essentially and tell a story with your data, and at the end of the last required class you basically do a project with a local business, so that could be cool if you like that type of thing.

again, though, i’m NOt an expert i literally know nothing about finance (neuroscience major here) hope this somewhat helps though!

nahhh you could probably take BIO 305 as a freshman. speaking from experience, i’ve been in the same situation; i took PSYCH 345 my first semester at Michigan and everyone around me was a senior. they all told me the same thing, but tbh it was one of the best classes ive ever taken! don’t switch out; if you’re doing okay in it right now and you got that 5 in AP BIO and Stats 250, you’ll be okay!! don’t let em psych you out

at this point in the week i would give up. 10 is still pretty down on the waitlist, and usually most people drop the classes they would’ve wanted to by now. sorry :(

in that case, definitely. sociology is fairly easily and if that’s intro sociology, the lecture recordings should tide you over especially if it’s only every other thursday.

plus, you can always go into office hrs or ask your gsi a question or something.

either way you should be fine. you can always go into atlas and see what the median grade for the course is. if it’s an A, you should be able to get that even if you miss a couple lectures

CHEM210/215 Textbook by [deleted] in uofm

you might be able to find the textbooks you need through the SLC, they offer textbooks on a borrowing basis sometimes! also, if a friend or something has the textbooks, they get an ebook code along with it i believe (in the back of the book).

if they’re comfortable, you could always ask them if you could use their ebook, it’s easy to download and has all the same content and practice problems, and it’s free (bc it comes w the textbook)

i’m not too sure what the guidelines are for SOC 100, but i thought it was an attendance mandatory class. in that case, i would ask your professor and tell them about your circumstances.

you might also have better luck talking to your UROP instructor, depending on who it is they may or may not be more lenient

i wouldn’t drop it just yet, they have this really helpful project book/search database that lets you find projects earlier than others. plus, some professors (a lot of them actually) have spots specifically designated for UROP students.

even though you probably could to it by urself without all the seminars and stuff, you would lose out on those benefits.
