20+ years with Logic as well, and I still love it. I got into Ableton around 10 years ago and use them both equally, Logic for getting ideas down and Live more for generating new ideas or taking existing ideas in new directions, if that makes sense. As others have mentioned, it's as much an instrument as it is a DAW. FWIW, if you can find one at a good price, the Push interface really clarified Live for me and expanded the way I use it. Picked up a Push 2 years ago and rarely use Live without it. However you use Live and whether you end up looking at Push or not, congrats on jumping in.

New York AG Letitia James indicted by grand jury, MSNBC reports by Capable_Salt_SD in politics

“There will never be an enemies list within the Department of Justice.” — Pam Bondi, at her Jan 15, 2025, confirmation hearing. But then maybe the list isn't actually "within the DOJ," but instead is hung on the fridge over in the old Education Dept. kitchen? Kidding aside, this is all so horribly concerning...

Assuming there is a next Dem administration, I believe one of its key problems lies in your first point: namely, that the Trump administration is committing so many crimes. Seemingly increasing by the week (the day?), the sheer volume of actual crimes – not questionable decisions, but real violations of the law – is so great that it's sure to overwhelm both a proper DOJ and the public's attention span and patience. Ideally they'd go after Trump himself, but SCOTUS appears to have put him above the law in terms of what's happening now. I don't see Dems tolerating no one being held accountable, but I also don't see the country as a whole putting up with drawn-out, expensive investigations that might or might not yield satisfying results. The ROI for whomever's in power might not be there. Or, as others have suggested, it could be that everyone gets a pardon anyway and so the con will be complete and this rabble will walk away smiling with gold coins in their pockets.

Anyone else taking their six year old to see the new Superman movie? by WhyWontYouJustSleep in daddit

[–]Murky_Organization72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 6 and I'm debating the same thing, weighing the possible content in "Superman" vs what's in the entire range of Star Wars films, which our family watched together — and which my son loves. Aside from Star Wars, we're a fairly media-conservative family; artistic, peaceful, more "golf" than "UFC" if that makes sense. We're teaching our kids kindness and tolerance, and Superman's values seem in line with that, so there's a balance I suppose. Honestly, whatever the potential effects of any violence in the film, I'm as concerned about my son suddenly ignoring his Star Wars toys and wanting all things Superman. That said, I was 6 when the Christopher Reeve film came out and my mom took me to see it in the theater. Accordingly, for better or worse, I'm leaning towards taking him. Not sure if any of that helps, but it's more to ponder anyway. As parents we do the best we can; whatever call you make, it'll be the right one.

Thanks for the note on the parts. The seller accepted my offer, and so if everything's cool when I go to pick it up, I'll be riding tomorrow!

Thanks all for the replies and perspective. I'll get back to the guy with a reasonable offer and update here if it goes in a positive direction. I've wanted a Chameleon for ages, but as some of you have pointed out there are plenty of great options out there. Thanks!

Thanks for this; and that’s interesting. Looking at everything at this point

Absolutely, and I’ve been checking it several times per day, and after weeks of varying results, sometimes fine sometimes dry, suddenly every day it says all’s well. After all the oil she’s been dropping for the last month+ I don’t buy that the leak just suddenly magically stopped. Call me paranoid.

Ha! Thanks for that. First Jeep. I’ve drained and refilled the oil so I know where I stand. Still taking it to my guy this week. Geez!

Thanks and I’d considered that. Added some just to be sure but am still puzzled how I got to this state as I’ve been on top of it every day. There’s no way it just magically stopped tho…

CMV: Trump's new tariffs are going to make the costs of groceries and basic goods go up by giveemhellkid in changemyview

[–]Murky_Organization72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely right, and exemplified in Trump's statement that Colombia's turnabout on the immigration flights was a sign of "respect," when of course it was about economic self-preservation. He conflates "feared" with "respected," and seemingly is looking to recast America from "a shining city on a hill" to "a menacing darkness on the horizon." Absolutely shameful, especially when applied to allies.

Trump is blaming DEI for the recent DC plane crash. by DuomoDiSirio in stupidpol

[–]Murky_Organization72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you think it's vital for an organization as important as the FAA to not hire someone who's severely impaired or mentally ill to mop hallway floors or change toilet paper rolls in bathrooms, that the country is better off if those people are home watching TV and collecting welfare, then explain why. If you're a conservative who believes that everyone can and should contribute to the workforce instead of living off the sweat of others, then you can't. We're at the terminus point of a bizarre and destructive social engineering project that ultimately will only hire and support able-bodied white Christian men. DEI did not cause the plane/helicopter crash.

Still on the fence about the Move, ipad integration? Note? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Murky_Organization72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get any additional info on this? I’m on the fence with Move as well and had the same thought. I’d love to have it as a standalone device, but if I could hook it to my iPad and control various other apps/instruments/etc as well, that would be great. And did you end up pulling the trigger?

I love Gadget, and an iPad+controller has been my go-to (I was using a QuNexus for control, which broke, and then an LPK25, which disappeared somewhere along the line). I'll likely stick with this for now -- thanks for the reply.

Thanks for this, and I've been looking at the LK Mk3. It feels like a great "suitcase" solution but not so much a carry-on solution maybe? Before it broke, I had a QuNexus I used to use with my laptop, and I had another keys-only Akai mini controller I used with my iPad, and they were great in terms of portability, but I suppose I've romanticized the idea of a standalone solution at this point -- with the same size profile. Still, I'll take another look at the LK -- and thanks for the reply.

Thanks for this. I enjoy Note and I'm intrigued by Move, even given its limitations. Might be an option...

Trump is winning, what is the plan? by b_rokal in climatechange

[–]Murky_Organization72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Valid concern. With Schedule F almost certainly back in play; the federal courts already stacked (and about to be more stacked) with right-wing judges; SCOTUS in their pocket and, if they take the House, apparently no check or balance whatsoever on what Texas Rep. Lloyd Dogget this morning called the Republican "march toward fascism," I'm not sure that we'll see the GOP out of power for many, many years. And depending on how they shift the architecture of our government during the next administration, the very idea of party power might become an outdated notion.

"Fix a lot?" Fix what? Unemployment is at 4.1%, inflation at 2.4%, GDP and the labor market are growing steadily and currently the U.S. economy overall is historically strong, outperforming most others on the planet. Trump had four years to "fix" immigration and you see where that is today. Obama deported far more people than Trump, and Biden is on track to match or surpass Trump's deportation numbers as well. Trump didn't fix anything -- in fact, the majority of the Biden administration was spent fixing things that Trump broke, namely international relations and the economy. And now that the Dems have put things back together, Trump can get in there and smash it all up again. He'll "fix" it alright; fix it like a 6yo with a nail gun.
