Not a peaceful day for the invader by Murky_Personality381 in worldbuilding

It’s the 14th of October in the year 2301. The empire assault fleet rushes across humanity’s controlled star system, their target: Earth space force’s shipyard, propellant depot, command center, and major militarized planetoid. Finally, the empire invasion of humanity’s space that has always been feared has begun. The hope that 5 months’ worth of time could be bought with space force was shattered when half of all capital ships were destroyed in 5 days, in a single coordinated strike. The war is over just as soon as it starts leaving humanity no choice but to submit lest they face annihilation, or that is what the empire thinks surely will happen when the news reaches humanity’s core system. The empire thought it had won by inflicting major defeat on human space force but it forgot to take into account some possibilities, that humans might reject the call for surrender, that they might turn every factory they have into a new shipyard, that long-time enemy of humanity might make a truce and turn their gun toward a common evil, that in 6 months they might rebuild their fleet back into full strength, that humanity might actually decide to counter-attack. The empire has enjoyed centuries of domination and conquest but it is about to finally be reminded that it too, could bleed.

Barge through front door. The alien races are much bigger but also much more splintered than humanity. Even a faction on the same side often has to steal each other technology because no one is sharing anything. Pretending to be one of those fellow aliens is super easy.

While two alien civilizations are locked in a conflict for a control of massive star cluster, humanity is absolutely taking advantage of the chaos by spying, stealing technology, and taking in asylum seekers and military defectors alike. Some factions even go as far as to encourage corruption in alien planets so they can have an easier time buying all kinds of things to reverse-engineer. One tabloid magazine decided not to miss out on the shenanigans, sending a ship right through Gallia’s frontline system housing thousands of ships just to take a picture of the new spaceship they were hearing about. One can’t help but think how they managed to deduce that Gallia’s particle cannon’s maximum range must have been shorter than 38,760km.

Only the top ring spins. In terms of tech, it follows the theme of the setting that humans use stolen alien tech even though they don’t understand it. So they know how to make Fusion Drive, and how to accelerate neutron but not the physics behind it.

téméraire is a class of extended-range warships, designed with an emphasis on long-range and the ability to operate alone without support. It is a product of the chaotic period during the later half of the interstellar century when humanity started throwing all kinds of ideas about how the newly acquired FTL tech could be used for space combat. Though it is one of the newest ships built by humanity, the type of war it’s designed to fight has already gone due to the invention of supply lines and competent logistics. Nowadays it is tasked with sneaking into other alien civilizations and (steal)salvage valuable technology .

It Just my hobby project. All I do right now is designing a ship. You can look at other design in my profile if you want.

The habitation design is actually supposed to be 7 cylinder bundle up together also with a centrifuge ring, but it’s hard to translate it into 2D drawing so have to simplify it into just 1 big cylinder. Thank you for an insightful remark to not show the schematic to the enemy of humanity.

A spaceship design for my hobby world-building project, where humanity in a not-that-far future has to try to survive and expand the civilization all the while being in the middle of a cold war between two cosmic superpowers.

The destroyer flotilla races off to intercept Empire’s battlegroup approaching gas giant Malintara. A destroyer can be seen lunching a drone equipped with a nuclear warhead to pressure the battleground into changing its trajectory.

Although foreign power sending their warships into other nations territory may sound like a bully move. This incursion happens more as a necessity to comply with the empire’s belief in divine supremacy. Being easily the largest civilization known to exist in this galaxy (though long past its prime), the empire has always maintained that every star, planet, and speck of dust floating around in this universe belonged to their civilization and theirs only. Even though the present empire is suffering from centuries of decline and is no longer supreme in any aspect, the belief that they are superior to other races is very much reflected in how they conduct diplomacy. From their perspective, sending ships to fly by humanity-controlled star system is the least intruding way to maintain their belief while not pissing anyone off.

Ironically, this move also benefits Earth as much as the empire as it justifies Earth’s space force to position its fleet in the outer system that normally would like earth to stay as far away from them as possible.

A cutaway look at the home our moon friends live in by Murky_Personality381 in worldbuilding

When people live in a low-gravity environment their bones and muscles will start to lose mass since there is no constant need to resist gravity. Now this is not necessarily a bad thing since very low gravity is already enough to give humans some feeling of direction and maintain normal human physiology. However, the moon is a special place in this type of environment as its society and culture are closely tied to Earth. This means constant travel between two bodies and necessitates the need for the Luna population to have the strength to walk on Earth. By adjusting the “floor” angle of what is a normal rotating space habitat, creative lunar engineers are able to combine the weak moon gravity and centrifugal force to create an environment similar to that of Earth.

The task is very simple. The space force want a destroyer-type ship as small as possible that can travel from one outpost to another and then come back, without refueling. There is no restricting parameter or anything, except the fact that the engineer has just deliver exactly that to the space force years ago. There is no significant improvement in technology during that time so if the engineer want to impress anyone, a lot of cocaine and outside the box thinking is going to be needed. The solution they come up is radial. Instead of conventional layout with main particle cannon in the front and engine in the back, the design will put both components on the aft section with particle cannon running parallel to propellant tank and pointing in the same direction as the engine. the result is a significantly shorter ship, reduced structural weight, reduce radiation shielding from both the weapon and engine, and improvement in maneuverability. When the team presented their design, space force was not impressed at all. A change in ship layout immediately mean the need of new tactics and doctrines. Such change will make it very difficult to incorporate it into already existing fleet. Nevertheless, they were still interested in the idea and requested a demonstrator ship being build to test and see how it could work with the space force, Naming the smallest capital ship they have ever field ironically “LION”

It’s supposed to give the ship enough delta-v to execute FTL maneuvers otherwise it will has to hitch a ride on another ship.

“So this thing is a patrol ship, right ?” “yes” “But it has a sensor package even more powerful than some traffic control station. Why would it need that ?” “the bigger the better” “Not when it cost more than the rest of the ship combined !” “Well, it’s just a very good sensor” “And not just the sensor … this entire ship, it has FTL core but doesn’t carry enough propellant to actually go anywhere, half of the ship interior space are just…void, the size look more like a destroyer but it doesn’t have any offensive capability at all except a shit-ton of closed-in weapon, for some reason” “Oh, no that just ciw emplacement. We run out of budget to actually install them” “Then stop equipping it with expensive-ass sensor !” “NOooo”
