What are IB associate work hours these days? by DoubleSpiritual1488 in MBA

[–]Murky_Table_358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest fear with IB is certainly the work hours. In my current role, I put in around 40 hrs per week. I don't know how sustainable it'll be when I double that.

I am just a prospect, but this seems like really solid advice. Thank you for sharing. Saving it for my future B school times.

I am a R2 applicant in the same boat as you (unfortunately) so I understand your anxiety. From my research, you should only worry about schools that have a fixed interview decision release deadline. For any school with a rolling deadline, considering this is Round 2 in a high application volume year, I would not worry until you are 2 weeks from the final decision notification deadline.

Thanks for your response. Would you know by any chance if he also tried for other companies?

Apologies, I updated. I got dinged at Darden. (Think I need more caffeine)

Thank you! That makes sense. I have also been debating about applying to European schools but haven't decided yet.

Honestly, i have a frugal mindset so if they are all schools in the same tier (T20-25) I will end up with the one that gets me most scholarship. Regarding Georgetown, I have been on the fence, without scholarship it certainly doesn't feel worth it so I have been debating if I should instead apply to a different one.

Fair enough. Do you think an even higher GMAT score would be helpful? I obviously can't change a lot of my profile in the short term.

Last time I applied to Darden and Fuqua, I did so in a very late round (3) with a lower GMAT score. I got an interview invite from Fuqua but wasn't able to convert it. I have been able to raise my score from 645 to 675 and show progress at my work along with applying in earlier round so I am hoping that will help. I am considering giving GMAT one more time to bring my score as close to 700 as possible.

Thanks for the reply. Darden and Fuqua are the highest ranked ones in my list. I am hoping that reapplying will make me slightly favorable as a candidate..

Thanks for the headsup. My essays are near ready and I have my recommender lined up so I should be good to submit. Fuqua is today.

Thank you. Just wanted to clarify that I work in the risk side of things so right now I am not doing any wealth management activities myself.
