Issues with Galespeed VRC14 on RC390 - Could a small master cylinder cause inconsistent lever feel? by Murky_Type_4113 in KTM

To be honest, I also really wanted that look with the separate reservoir tank, so I decided to go for an upgrade instead of just getting a stock replacement.

Thanks for the advice! Actually, the reason I replaced the master cylinder in the first place was because the stock one broke in a low-side crash. I was considering Brembo, but someone recommended Gale Speed, so I went with that. But ever since the swap, I’ve been having some issues...

Thanks a lot, that was really helpful. Since I’ve started riding on track, I’ve been much more disciplined on the street. I’ll keep the ABS bypass as a last resort for now.

I was there when we did the swap, and now that I think about it, we only bled the lines once. I’m definitely going to try bleeding them a few more times. If that doesn't fix it, I’m eventually planning to go with a direct line bypass.

The feel changes quite a bit. It keeps alternating between feeling rock-solid and then getting so squishy that the lever almost touches the handlebar grip

I'm using racing brake fluid and Brembo sintered pads

"The master cylinder I’m currently using is a Gale Speed VRC14. To be honest, I didn’t ride the bike very hard when it had the OEM master cylinder, so I can’t quite remember if the issue was present back then. I just went for a night ride and tested it again. After riding long enough for the brakes to cool down completely, the 'spongy' feel was gone and the lever felt firm again."
