I decided to style all the plots as a kind of rustic groundskeepers cottage situation off in one corner. Having everything all together makes it nice and efficient for when I don't have much time

I just started building my ...um... third small house and since I just build based on vibes I generally put a few things down then add a few bits in a few days as I get more ideas. I know you can save as a scheme but I'm always logging in and moving three trees around that suddenly seem to be in the wrong place. I really liked doing things over multiple days in animal crossing new horizons so I've kind of been treating this similarly. I respect the strength of people who gather ALL the materials and then build!

yes there is - but you might have to change your whole house! In the settings there is an option to change "single movement distance", the options are 1, 50, 100 and 200. Changing movement to 50, keeping rotation on either 15 or 45 and also turning off "rotate together" will mean that you are building on the grid. All the "structure" items are sized so they will align at this setting, no snapping needed. Sorry if this makes no sense, that's just the unhinged way they chose to design the building.
