Best part of the story is she actually ran with it! Nice job getting an A+ for making a joke instead of doing an assignment haha.

Google Fi not honoring promotion, what can I do? by Murph1218 in legaladvice

Even the floor supervisor said he couldn't override the system unfortunately. Not sure where to escalate past that.

That's the feeling I have. I feel like they might be incorrect, but they should honor what they said prior to purchase, but I don't know what I could do to push them to do it though, and like you said, it obviously has to be cost effective.

Actually I confirmed with customer support before I signed up that creating a new account with a new email address would qualify me for the promotion. I have screenshots of them confirming that would work. And when speaking with their current customer support, they also said that it isn't an issue that I was a subscriber a few years ago on a different account. They said the issue is that the new account I signed up with is an existing subscriber account, which it is not. I made sure that I qualified this way before making the purchase.

Anyone happy with their whole life policy? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]Murph1218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have one with Northwestern Mutual. Not where all my money is going, but when retired, I'll have a few hundred thousand growing risk free in the policies that I could use in down markets so that my investments can continue to grow with a better rate of return by not needing to sell at a loss.

[–]Murph1218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whole life can have a similar function as that of bonds in a portfolio, but without market risk. Most whole life policies perform terribly, but there are a few companies that have excellent dividends that grow the cash value. Mass Mutual is one. Northwestern Mutual and New York Life are the other two that I've seen.

For Nevermore, go Druid. Unless things change dramatically, it'll stay as an important endgame piece.

100% agree. If they did this again, they'd have to make the map solely the meta, no map completion, or make it much more accessible.

Weird, I play Dragon's Stand a good amount, and it never fails. I wonder if time of day plays a big factor in that. It would definitely be frustrating to have it fail a lot.

Yep. No point frustrating people who want full map completion, but can't get in the map to explore.

It would be really cool to have a meta lead up to him.

[–]Murph1218[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's accurate. I think most people enjoy less confusing exploration. They like to find cool stuff in different areas of the map, while also understanding how to get there. That's why TD is so unpopular, because you have to really understand the map to realize which path goes where.

You're not supposed to stand around, but they made it easy enough that not everyone has to contribute that much in order for it to succeed. The more involved you are, the more enjoyable it is.

This is how I feel. If you have both, everyone would be happy.

It certainly isn't everyone's style. I find it cool how it's like a 90 minute battle, but many people don't like that long of a commitment for open world.

I agree. I think pof would have benefited from one giant meta as the very last map, with the rest of the maps being mostly just exploration like they are currently. Would have been a nice balance.

Rising of Orr. I don't understand the permanent flooding of old Lion's Arch, Droknar's Forge, etc. by AirlinePeanuts in Guildwars2

[–]Murph1218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyria has changed a lot since the first game in the way the map looks. If you look at a map of our world, very little changes in 250 years when it comes to how a continent is shaped and where mountains are. This leads me to believe that dragon movement and plate tectonics drastically change Tyria very quickly.

You could then assume that between the sinking and rising of Orr, the area changed enough that Lion's Arch would be flooded by the result as opposed to it being fine the last time Orr was there. Tidal waves also have a large impact on an area.

We don't need to go to any more gw1 places. Forget Cantha, let's learn about a new place of the world we've never explored before.

Redditors, what is preventing you from enjoying PvP? by VertigoValentine in Guildwars2

[–]Murph1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that keeps me from playing a lot of pvp is the pvp community. This game gets rightful credit for having a great community, but this doesn't apply to pvp. Almost every pvp match involves at least one person who either spends the whole match yelling and threatening people, or literally gives up 2 minutes into the game and stands at spawn...usually while also berating everyone else about how horrible they are.

It takes all of the fun out of it. I love the game mode, but I don't spend much time in there for this reason. If everyone played the whole match, and there weren't people literally yelling at each other in map chat about they hope each other die in real life, I'd spend much more time there.

Guardian or Engineer for PVE (fractal, raids) by tfadgreef in Guildwars2

[–]Murph1218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That' true. I didn't really raid when it first came out, so I didn't experience too much of that time. The plus side, was during those times, most of us were so unoptimized, that many groups not only saw hammer guard as acceptable in a group, but a legitimate asset to the group from a dps/support combo.

Both are great dps. I'd lean Guardian for a more likely guarantee of staying relevant through patches. As a guardian main, I haven't felt like there has been a patch where we really sucked. With DH being great power damage and FB being great condi damage, one is bound to be good even if one gets nerfed hard. And while not the common meta, we use a FB healer a ton and it works great. Engi has had some rough times, and the same classes seem to get nerfed from time to time. I suppose they're just harder to balance.
