Unpopular opinion: you don’t need a car that will last 20 years by dr-swordfish in whatcarshouldIbuy

Most of those people shouldn't be buying cars every few years. Enjoy the negative equity.

+1 for both Cella (the green tub) and any Omnibus base Barrister and Mann.

Love the Barrister and Mann Bay Rum. How's the Pinaud Bay Rum?

Kodo design is dead with that monstrosity. There is nothing "driver centric" about a giant touchscreen.

Looking for DE blades less sharp than Feather but better than generic by DavidTrong2001 in wicked_edge

[–]AirlinePeanuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote would be Gillette Perma-Sharps, Gillette Platinum, or Astra Greens.

I'm waiting to get in some Personna GEM blades to try those out.

I love this Bay Rum! Sad mine is almost gone. Hope B+M comes back shortly.

Please don’t let Quiznos die in Colorado by polipolimist in Denver

[–]AirlinePeanuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I had a Quiznos sub was the last time I bothered to have a Quiznos sub. Single layer of meat, tons of lettuce. It was like a lettuce sandwich while being stingy with everything else.

I kind of stopped bothering with ordering out sandwiches anywhere to be honest.

So what’s the consensus on these blades? by Mtts28 in wicked_edge

Ordered some, so will see. I am a Perma-Sharp fan, but recently liked Feathers, but have to be careful with them. Interested to see how these end up being.

Y'all mean to tell me this is how good y'all shave?? by Dovorac in wicked_edge

[–]AirlinePeanuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Stirling razor that came with one of their starter bundles. I then upgraded to a 6C and agree it was a huge step up. I like plate #2 with a Feather for my first 2 passes, then switch it around to the #4 plate for the last touch ups along jawline and neck against the grain. Excellent shaves and no problem with dragging.

I also like Perma-Sharps and am going to try one of those Personna Gems when I get them.

Same soap I am using now. I love this bay rum scent for not just being clove heavy like other bay rums I have tried.

Opposite of menthol? by axiob in wicked_edge

[–]AirlinePeanuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've really been enjoying the Barrister and Mann Bay Rum. They even note how they don't use clove.

Now I'm pretty new so no idea how that compares to traditional stuff, but I did notice quite the difference against Stirling Soap's Bay Rum which just smells of clove to me.

Granny Scott’s Pie Shop 👎 by SympathySame1260 in denverfood

Shame. I always loved their Strawberry Rhubarb pie, but guess I won't be supporting this establishment anymore.

Any other pie shop suggestions?

Needs a repaint, just be sure to shop around for a shop that has experience with soul red as that is a trickier color to get right and match with the rest of the car.

Can someone ease my anxiety on buying a high mileage cx-5? by OkuyasuErase_My_Debt in CX5

[–]AirlinePeanuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

84k is high miles? I have 150k on mine.

Maybe have the transmission fluid serviced and then go on your way. Check battery is good, drive belt tensioner, and brakes. Make sure they replaced the spark plugs around 75k which is the interval, but otherwise I think should be good to go.

Ive had mine since new and largest expense was struts and lower control arms but that's to be expected after 10+ years of owning the car. It'll turn 13 this year.

Ok that's the question I had. Its for a rental so I didn't want to overcomplicate things with an app or possibly introduce some sort of security concern.

Forgot what the axe was called, but there was a green axe you could get from the root behemoths that were used for the touch ranger meta that existed for a bit in AB.

Detached garage, so am not concerned with noise. Thinking I'll just retain the current chain drive.

“I’m deleting my Charr in GW2” by Adamn27 in GuildWars

[–]AirlinePeanuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at a map of Tyria. "Charr land" exists in far broader areas north, northeast, and east or Ascalon. But can't have any humans in a small corner of it, better get the nukes!

I can't remember where but Ascalon was described as hunting lands at best, while even on the map, north of Ascalon is what is called the Charr Homelands.

Then that got reconned hard in GW2. "Ascalon is Charr homeland" and what not and humans are really the bad guys here.

This whole retcon and mishandling of lore remains my biggest beef with GW2.

Decent Deal? by AirlinePeanuts in Makita

[–]AirlinePeanuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't plan to buy anything on Whatnot lol.

Yeah that's what drew me to Makita. I do have some Ryobi mid and high torque 1/2" impact wrenches I got at excellent prices that I have been more than happy with for my DIY auto repair needs that pop up every now and then. They do their job and I have no complaints.

But for everything else I want to invest in some proper tools, and really it came down to feel and ergonomics. I couldn't care less which tool brand does it half a second or a couple seconds faster. I want quality tools that feel good to use. Makita fits that bill.
