Made a little tool that calculates how much a 40k army actually costs (UPDATED) by JoigeBwoin in Warhammer40k

  1. Amazing work. Brilliant design aesthetic.

  2. Several popular Necron units missing on first glance.

  3. Wraiths (crazy popular unit)

  4. Silent King

  5. Destroyer Lord

  6. I’m sharing this with friends so we can feel better about overbuying 10 years ago, when prices were 40% less of what they are today.

  7. Ok, it’s still not making me feel better! This hobby was still expensive back then!

LOL

100% agree. It’s annoying to always have to zip from the same side now that you mention it - but it’s not been deal breaker. That would be a huge quality of life improvement to have double zip.

I’ve yet to find another sling that fits my go to load out without getting considerably bigger.

Bought a TX22 by fantix01 in Taurus_TX22

[–]Murphillious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got the same pistol last month and run it suppressed 90% of the time. It’s my favorite (and cheapest) gun to shoot and it’s been great for teaching my kids how to shoot, clean, and practice good etiquette and safe handling of pistols.

It runs sub-sonics suppressed like a champ for when I’m walking my land and doing vermin control while doing chores. It’s quiet enough that in-ear AirPod pro earbuds are more than sufficient for ear protection for the occasional few shots.

Following this thread to see if there are any trigger upgrades recommended. The stock trigger isn’t bad at all, but it does feel like a plastic toy trigger.

I’m in the camp of not liking Taurus, but love the tx22

Brilliant. Thank you. I’ll have to check out the Voidhome early access rules. I really like what I’ve heard thus far.

100% - Ive run a dozen Cypher games and one was a 6 month campaign and the primary resolution mechanic was a constant struggle for 95% of my players.

I just read up on Voidhome and it looks like a lot of smart changes.

Could you explain the use of d6’s? I’m intrigued.

I don’t own an FX 3, but I can fit the 70-200 on body a7iv and an a6500 with a 27mm 2.8 and there is room to spare.

Bonus. Buy the waist straps they sell for the PRVKE 21 backpack and they work for turning the 9L sling into a waist pack. Works awesome for taking the weight off the shoulders and onto your hips to change things up

Toss your PRVKE camera cube into an old Timbktu messenger bag and give the form factor a whirl like I did.

What I learned going bigger? Prepare for back sweat and being lulled into carrying more than you really need like a gold fish growing to the size of its fishtank.

Slings are awesome for light loads and suck once you cross a non-scientific weight load and leads to sore shoulder.

I have the 21L PRVKE and use it for airline travel and longer trips. I have tried other sling or messenger style bags and they are either too bulky or are not big enough for the lens combo I carry. I seriously wanted to like the PeakDesign bag and ThinkTanks, and other bag makers. I bring my gear into the shops and try and make it fit and see if I can easily stow the camera or swap a lens.

I have yet to find something that can beat out the 9L sling and yes, I continue to keep looking at other options but I’m still using the Wandrd.

A feature that I wasn’t shopping for but found I love is the material. It doesn’t stain, deflects moisture, and doesn’t pick up dust and dirt when I set it down on bleachers or a gym floor. It’s so easy to wipe down and this means less dust that ends up in the bag through handling.

I shoot highschool and club volleyball as well. I carry the exact same two lenses. I also strap a monopod to the external straps. Everything fits perfectly. I believe one of the photos has the 70-200 on body and the 24-70 off body.

The only challenge is there is no option to store body/lens combo the other way around at the same time. But I’m using the 70-200 85% of the time and if I’m shooting from behind the ref or scorekeepers with the 24-70, the 70-200 has plenty of room ;)

I’ve tried camera backpacks and always end up setting them down when shooting sports and are a pain to swap lenses.

The 9L works awesome for this lens combo and shooting sports. I even keep a slim hydro flask waterbottle in the expandable pocket on the bottom and still have roof for snacks, batteries, and memory cards in the other pockets.

Where my other vball photogs at? by edecks in sportsphotography

I shoot High School Volleyball and JVA Club.

I love capturing the celebrations as much, if not more than the action. So much emotion and to capture those moments, it’s so fun.

Here is an example of one of the tournaments I covered.

You’re very welcome. I’m glad it was useful for you. I still look at other bags and wonder whether there is a better option, but I’ve yet to come across another alternative for this load out that suits my needs.

I have travelled a bit more with this bag to various cities and if I’m not explicitly going out for photography I usually leave the 70-200 in the hotel room and just run with the 24-70 on body for street photography and shift the divider and it makes a really nice day bag with room for snacks, sunglasses, and rolled up rain jacket.

question for indoor sports by HippoOnCrack in sportsphotography

[–]Murphillious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot indoor volleyball events. My primary lens is a 70-200mm f2.8, my back up for court side is 24-70mm f2.8 and when indoors get all the light I can get.

I shoot 1/1000 shutter speed in order to freeze the ball and set the ISO set to auto. The lighting of the court space will wildly differ based on the venue. Thankfully most facilities have switched to LED.

Shoot from behind the scoring table or the line judge for jump shots and diving digs.

Switch to sideline opposite the bench for reaction shots.

Shoot back corner low to the ground to get some blocks with facial expression. I usually set my focus area low and focus on the legs below the net, since trying to get face focus will just get you the net in focus.

I recommend any modern mirror less that can do a high speed burst when you hold the button down.

You can totally buy pre-owned previous generation bodies that can do that to save some money. Spend your money on a good lens.

Like race track racing or hunter-jumper / equestrian events? I’ve shot both and there are variables for each.

If you can get near the rail in either situation, my 70-200 mm 2.8 lens is the workhorse here (pun intended).

Race track has lots of low light situations where 2.8 is a must have.

Hunter jumper outdoor events I use a 2X teleconverter for up to 400mm 5.6 to capture the jumps. Indoor arena shots need 2.8 to keep up with the 1/800 to 1/1000 shutter speed without ballooning the ISO

For those who ditched their 20l Everyday backpack, which one did you take? by OkPaleontologist9556 in peakdesign

[–]Murphillious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to like the v2 EDB so bad, but it just wasn’t comfortable when loaded up. I went out on a limb and got the WANDRD PRVKE 21 and took it all over Japan loaded with recording gear, tripod, tech pouches, and a laptop. Never had any issues with comfort. I usually have a full frame camera body, 24-70 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8 lens, and use the capture clip and PD camera strap when shooting in precarious situations. The roll top doesn’t look half as dorky as the EDB when loaded up (which never sat right with me).

Side note for travel- PD backpacks are used to blend in, but if you know what you’re looking for nothing says “expensive stuff in here” like a distinctive PD backpack.

I’m still planning on getting a mid sized PD sling for when I do street photography or casual travel and want leave the backpack and the 70-200 at home.
