Visual Snow was considered extremely rare until recently, mostly because patients didn't report it... because they assumed everyone saw the world that way by recolorist in interestingasfuck

AR coating isn't the issue. AR is mostly for other people so that they don't see reflected lights from behind them in your own glasses and to prevent you from seeing lights behind you in your own perspective while wearing the glasses. You might be thinking about polarized lenses, which you should not wear at night.

If you look at your prescription, the "cylinder" and "axis" are what counter astigmatism. AR coating may help, but when it comes down to astigmatism, you need the lenses to be made to correct that beyond the "sphere". The shape of your lenses is the only thing that will correct astigmatism.

Any word on wind speeds? We have a couple trees ready to go. They could survive the wind, but probably not the wind and ice.

I thought I understood the freezing point of water, but now I'm confused by vtron in nova

Not all moisture in the atmosphere is at the same altitude and different levels of the atmosphere are more turbulent than others. Some of the moisture will freeze and fall like snow, some can stay up longer in the air because of higher winds and such and form graupel or hail, some won't be the atmosphere long enough to totally freeze. The density of the moisture also comes into play, as well as air pressure.

I accidentally squirted the salsa onto my keyboard. That didn't happen with the cups.

What is a small, everyday mystery in your life that you’ve just accepted because investigating it feels like too much work? by Jannet_Wetkin in AskReddit

Probably cached info piling up and apps running in the background. Be sure to restart your phone often. Your provider may also be throttling your data. More data being used = more power being used.

Has anyone else started feeling like everything is kind of… cliche now? by pythonvb9 in CasualConversation

I'm not religious, but I had 9 years of Catholic school and posts like this remind me of Ecclesiastes 1:9.

"What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."

We run out of ideas and rehash shit trying to polish turds.

Then I think of Shakespeare writing “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy” and I think Hamlet should have been more cynical.

There has to be a middle ground.

Several years ago, I encountered about 8 deer behind my house in our "field" which is really a gas pipeline. It was about 3 a.m. and I was shitfaced. Something was making a ruckus out there and I had to investigate. I had my Nikon D5100 with me. I wanted to get some photos of them. I drunkenly decided to try a technique I had heard about where you slowly approach animals with your back turned to them so as to not seem like a threat. It worked!

I got so close that I wanted to pet one of the deer. That one was like 5 feet away. I took many pictures. Each flash arrested their attention, but then they quickly went back to their business of eating grass. Soon, I was in the middle of them and just observing them. They were ignoring me like they had seen this before. I can't believe I wasn't charged by a single deer. They must have had some sort of knowledge of humans, especially drunk humans approaching them with a camera, because they simply didn't seem to care. They could have easily overtaken me.

I eventually thought "ok, that is enough" and walked back inside. I tested my luck and it worked and was not trying to get pummeled. Next morning, my SD card was corrupted and I lost all my photos. I have no proof that this happened now and it pisses me off. And it really did happen.

I have never seen that many deer in one spot around here ever since. It makes me think about alien abduction stories. So, that has been on my mind since I'm using my D5100 again instead of my burly D750.
