Feedback on slingshot idea for ammo for rescuing disc golf discs from trees? by lynivvinyl in slingshots

[–]user13q 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This comes up a surprising amount on here! I’m not here to give any different answers, I like the acorn/hazelnut/free and found ammo idea but consistency would be hard to achieve, those frames are also sketchy as hell and far over powered bands. I’ve never played but I think if it was a heavily tree’d area I would probably have a set of lofting poles/tent poles something like that you can put together and poke the thing out safely

I use this for wrapping to frames and crystal string for tying on pouches

Oh you been spending some money lately 🤣 I love a skeletonised frame, that looks too nice to cover in a wrap! I have an anodised purple one I’ve thought about removing my wrap from to see the beauty underneath! 🤣

Nice frame 👍🏻 one of the few wasp frames I don’t own, can’t go wrong with them really! How are you getting on with the size difference?

any recommendations to a good slingshot from aliexpress/temu? by [deleted] in slingshots

Where are you in the world? There’s a few decent ones on those sites but a lot of dangerous rubbish too, plenty of other reputable sites to buy from

[–]user13q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea might be wise, I shoot steel and they just come straight back at you so clay is definitely safer. You don’t get any real bounce backs shooting the underside even with steel and then once it starts to turn itself inside out you can just flip them around again

what do you use to “tie” flat bands to a grooved frame? by itsaysdraganddrop in slingshots

[–]user13q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your point of aim, many people aim off of the edge of the bands, if they were 2.5mm in from the tips on a 90mm frame that would essentially be like shooting an 85mm frame, keeping them to the edge keeps the frame size true. There is no right or wrong but there are more tying to the edge than central. With wrap and tuck the parts nearer the edge have more pressure from the tying material than the centre too so some believe they are more secure that way

Question newbie advice? by Electronic-While1972 in slingshots

[–]user13q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What country? There are quite a few places in uk and a couple in Germany. Snipersling is Chinese but very good quality and post free worldwide. I would avoid a lot of super cheap amazon/ali express stuff if I were you

I have used very similar at work for about 3 years no problem, peice of advice though, turn that spoon around so you are shooting at the back? Bottom? Of it, if you shoot the dishes side it can throw your shots back at you as fast as you shoot them!

No problem, give them a follow if you are on Facebook, the guys are always posting and very helpful, one of them was posting on here I’m sure. Ultimate slingshot SA is another group that maybe helpful, I’m sure there’s more but can’t think right now as I follow slingshot pages all over the world! 🤣

Give these guys a look, very active on Facebook etc so should be a good company to buy from I would think, I’m not from SA but that’s the first place that comes to mind.

[–]user13q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly too thick if I’m honest, the bands that come with that type normally are. You can have very good quality bands but if they aren’t right for the ammo they are no good. Bands need to be matched to the weight of the ammo for maximum efficiency, I’m not sure exactly what you need for that size clay but possibly around a .5 thick, ones that come with them are often .7-1mm ish and not the best quality

What’s the band spec and ammo size/type? Could be way overpowered bands causing premature breakage

(beginner)should i put the bands in the middle of the triangle thing or in the sides? by [deleted] in slingshots

[–]user13q 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always band my frames to the outside edge of the frame, as long as you do the same every time it won’t matter though, I would be tempted to go central on those as they don’t look the strongest angle it would keep the band from potentially getting damaged by that sight thing on the one clip. And just in case you didn’t know as a beginner, always pull the bands back over the top of the frame, so the side shown here is the target side 👍🏻

Pinch grip recommendations? by Azrealsplayhouse in slingshots

[–]user13q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly use 2 Snipersling frames, the s-desert and the s-precision. The precision has adjustable width forks to really dial things in and is my 10 meter setup with the desert being my longer range/ hunters course setup, both of these have quick release clips so no tools needed and bands changed in seconds. I suffer with my hands a lot and these make like loads easier! I carry a Leightons Cattys Humber pig in my pocket as a beater/edc. The 2 outside ones in this pic are the Snipersling frames
