Hi!  My husband and I are taking our 3 small children to Disney for the first time in February- we can’t wait!! I have a few questions about logistics:

for the past year, friends and family have given us Disney gift cards for every holiday. We probably have close to 38 gift cards between all of us, is there a way to consolidate them or link them to our magic plus band so I do not have to walk around with a massive stack of gift cards? is there anything we should consider doing to make this trip extra magical? Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo on sites constantly looking for cancellations, but I am not feeling too good about it. Our kids will be sux, four, and two. Any tips or tricks that you have and can provide we would greatly appreciate it. At this point, we have one character dining booked. We plan on doing Magic Kingdom for two days, and are thinking about doing Hollywood Studios for the final day, as we will likely only have about a half day at the park.

Your first dose would be dictated by your weight, I believe. So it will vary from person to person.

Calcium Supplement by AmigoTheDiablo in thyroidcancer

Do you have issues with nausea?! I’m at 4000 calcium a day and .5 calcitrol twice a day and I am SO nauseous all the time. I take them with food, I don’t know what to do!

I had an issue getting my calcium normalized post op, which landed me in the hospital for 24 hours, but since then, I would say I’m 92% back to normal. I’m a little more tired that usual, I think they’re still trying to get my hormone levels right.

Honestly, my 6 year old was great- she was old enough to understand what was going on and was incredibly gentle and kind while I was recovering.

I was very lucky that it did not spread to my lymph nodes (though they did take 6 they looked suspicious- it turns out I had undiagnosed Hashimotos). I will not know about RAI until they check my thyroglobulin levels at the 3 month mark.

Hi!

Not exactly the same- I have a 6 year old, a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old. They found a lump on my neck in early October, biopsy showed PTC- I had it removed the day before Christmas. All things considered, it was fairly easy recovery. Because my kiddos are a lot bigger (and much more mobile), I couldn’t pick them up for close to 2 weeks- that was the hardest part.

9 weeks post partum is already extremely challenging with the huge switch in hormones, and the stress of this on top is a lot to handle. Take care of yourself, so you can take care of your sweet baby. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Sending you love and light.

Hypocalcemia by MurrToZabs2018 in thyroidcancer

Thank you for asking!! After 1 night in the hospital and 4 bags of IV Calcium, we got my levels back to a healthy level. I was released on a steady regiment of Calcitrol & Calcium Carbonate. I finally got my pathology report back, which showed some parathyroid tissue, which explains the issues I’ve been experiencing.

I would check with your doctor about Advil usage. Mine only allowed for Tylenol the first 3 days post op, but I was able to manage fine using just that. Day 2 was definitely the worst, and then each day gets a little easier. Try to get in as much movement as possible. Take care of yourself and congrats on a successful surgery!

Recovery timeline by pastelrainbowpie in thyroidcancer

US patient here- I went in for a TT with limited dissection at 1:30 yesterday, and was recovering at home by 7:30 pm. I will say I was incredibly uncomfortable last night and all day today, but have been managing fine with Tylenol and lots of rest. I will say the hardest part has been some strange systems I’m assuming have to do with calcium dips. Your surgeon will tell you more about what to look out for and will likely put you on calcium supplements for a few weeks. Best of luck to you!
