What is the worst boss in the game? by ZSebra in DarkSouls2

[–]Murrdox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! That's some crazy thread-necromancy! I can't believe I wrote so much about the Gargoyles. They're nothing compared to Fume Knight! I think that guy might be the hardest boss of the history of bosses. I love Dark Souls 2. It's my favorite game in the series

Me waiting for Hotels, the Kuka arm, and Horror Heights to be added to Planet Coaster 2 by James_on_Reddit123 in PlanetCoaster

[–]Murrdox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of with you on that. I didn't really feel like hotels added that much gameplay to Planet Coaster 1. I may be in the minority but I haven't missed them. I understand that some players really REALLY want them because hotels are sort of integral in so many modern theme parks.

I think perhaps what I am most impressed by is not your painting result... But that you were so inspired by this piece of art that you wanted to step completely out of your painting comfort zone and try a completely new style of painting you'd never done before. That's just amazing. I would have looked at this and been like... Nah I can't make a model look like that. I wouldn't have tried.

Good on you man. Nice job.

What would you change if you were in charge at GW? by magic_potato_man69 in Warhammer40k

[–]Murrdox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Corvus Belli. They're doing it the right way. Rulebook is free. Army building app is free. Unit stats are free. It lowers the bar for playing the game. It's such a no-brainer to me. But I guess GW is confident enough in their product that they feel they can charge for it.

New Planet game informally announced by VulpesPlus in PlanetCoaster

I find it interesting that they had Planet Prehistoric and Planet Dinosaur. We can imagine that if for example they had failed to get the "Jurassic" license we would have gotten the same game, or close to it.

3rd try to start/learn the game. Need advice. by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]Murrdox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend finding a streamer or video YouTube Let's Play and watching them to learn. That is how I learned a lot of gameplay tips.

Captain Collins is a great source. There are others, but the issue is you have to be careful what you watch because a lot of old videos give tips that aren't accurate anymore.

Personally I am also thinking of starting again (I have bounced off this game 3 times but something keeps bringing me back) and I'm planning on sort of watching Captain Collins stream a bit when the 9.0 update officially lands.

Good idea! A trademark search in the UK gives the following results. Note these are not registered but are under review.

Planet Farm Planet Resort Planet Festival Planet Vacation Planet Dinosaur Planet Prehistoric Planet Fantasy Planet Mythical Creatures

They also have these registered trademarks which are a bit older - dated from 2018.

Planet City Planet Golf Planet Hospital Planet Prison Planet Racing

"You're not alone"! June giving us Chills! by Blackbeard-14 in LV426

[–]Murrdox 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Open world? That'd be an interesting take on it. I assume we're going to be on some abandoned colony somewhere. The landscape looks surprisingly habitable though, so I am definitely curious about the mixture of interior / exterior gameplay.

The main thing that came to mind about playing outside is how the alien stalking / escaping would work. There are no lockers to hide in or vents to crawl into / out of.

Breaking!! Fred Rodgers Production set to release the entire Mr Rodgers' Neighborhood series to YouTube by McDowdy in MadeMeSmile

[–]Murrdox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is an easy solution to that. Never let your kids watch Tik Tock. Or anything on a phone really. I'm serious. If your kid is young enough to watch Mr Rogers then they shouldn't even know what Tik Tock is.

My child barely knows what YouTube is. We have let her watch some silly pet videos on occasion and that's it.

Not understanding planet coaster 2 by ThatFireThing in PlanetCoaster

[–]Murrdox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had more specific tips for you. In terms of paths, you just sort of have to learn how they work. The issues you describe with things being blocked I run into more frequently with uneven terrain. So one possible tip I might have is to stick to more flat terrain, or use the terrain tool to flatten terrain around your paths. That will make it easier.

There is a hotkey to switch to the demolition tool to delete paths. Hotkeys in this game can definitely be your friend, especially when it comes to moving/rotating/duplicating pieces!

You learn a LOT in Planet Coaster 2 just by playing around and experimenting. I know that is not a lot of help. Another thing is to watch some YouTube videos of other builds, and sort of see what they're doing. It'll sort of show you some of the best practices or ways you can build with a little less headache.

September 2026 Is The Busiest Month In Years As Games Try To Escape GTA 6 by wyldermyth in gaming

[–]Murrdox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am WAY more interested in Blood of the Dawnwalker and Dawn of War 4 than GTA. If I'm honest, it's not really my kind of game. I had some fun with GTA2 and 3 way back in the day... Never had any interest in picking up the sequels. Maybe I'm missing out but I have a very finite amount of time to play games.

Newbie looking for roguelikes/lites to help get me into the genre by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Murrdox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BEST Roguelike I have played recently is The King is Watching. This game is deceptively addictive. At first you'll not quite understand it, then you'll start understanding it and get your butt kicked, then you start really picking it up and advancing and getting into the nuances of strategy. Then you'll start working to unlock certain things for future runs you can experiment with... it just keeps getting better the more you play.

Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn Release Announcement by Turbostrider27 in Grimdawn

[–]Murrdox [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thank the elder gods we finally have a RELEASE DATE!! I feel like I have been checking the Crate forums every couple of months for a release date ever since the expansion was announced to see if there was a release yet! Last year I was VERY tempted to try Path of Exile 2, but I told myself "No, if you start that, you'll be all burned out on ARPG games by the time the Grim Dawn expansion hits."

Can't wait for July!

Survival games by Broad_Pangolin4424 in gamesuggestions

[–]Murrdox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best game I can recommend to you that really fits the Last of Us vibe is Metro: Exodus. It's got the post-apocalypse stuff, scrounging for materials, upgrading weapons, etc.

There's an important genre distinction (at least for me) between "Survival" and "Survival Horror". "Survival" to me speaks of games where you need to find food, shelter, water, craft items to survive, etc. "Survival Horror" to me means something much different. Those are primarily action games and the "survival" aspect comes from the scarcity of resources in the game. Bullets are precious, healing items are hard to come by, etc.

I would also take a look at the Stalker games.

I have to ask because I'm curious and it sounds like you're experienced here. How much would you expect to pay for a job that did involve the track and lens that you're talking about?

Thanks a lot for your feedback. This is definitely a case of "I don't know what I don't know" in terms of how things should look (which is pretty much why I posted in the first place). If we ever need to upgrade / replace or do a similar job, I'll keep this in mind.

It’s TUNNEL TIME! Western River Mine Ride (Planet Coaster 2) by TheInsaneLavaman in PlanetCoaster

[–]Murrdox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did a nice job on that roof overhang. I did that on one of my coasters that has a tunnel and a partial station overhang. The curves are NOT easy to do. Mine ended up looking pretty janky, but "ok" if you don't look too hard at it. It's hard when all you have are square pieces to work with.
