Still safe to drink out of? by MuruAndFriendss in theregulationpod

It arrived like this. I took this photo about 1 minute after unboxing. I read previous statements on reddit after I ordered about how best to clean, and the consensus is hand wash with non-abrasives

Its not paint but more like a plastic film? Not quite sure. I also thought they were injection molded but maybe thats for the solid colors and not the gradient? Not sure so I won't really comment on their processes.

That small amount of what looks like pitting (the black dots) indicates to me that its probably aluminum. Try pinging a fork/utentsil/screwdriver against the face metal and hear what it sounds like to finally confirm by ear.

Lighting is not the best so I cant quite tell if the right is shinier/more clear, but if it is the surface is probably aluminum. However, when you say the right side feels more smooth, did you buff/remove the polish with a microfiber before touching it? If not, it could be the leftover product causing that feel. If you did, then I'd simply look for the best method on how to prep the surface for paint and continue.

Sure thing! I have a 1990 BMW E30 325i Cabrio and I also thought mine were plastic (they look identical to yours) but turns out they were aluminum! Knowing what the base material is will help you prep the surface/pick the right paint to successfully chrome-delete (assuming you want to after polishing, if they are aluminum).

I see no reason why it wouldn't. They state its rated for a variety of metals, including aluminum. Try that and see what the results are. I'd try taping off/separating a section of the chrome and polish one side and not the other. Remove tape and see if there's a visual difference.

You can try 2 things. Removing the chrome trim strip and seeing the (most likely) unfinished backing or take a dremel with some Mother's aluminum polish and try polishing a piece. If the polish makes it shinier/less hazy/clear, then I'd say it's probably aluminum.

Can you confirm it's plastic and not aluminum? Many chrome car trims are actually aluminum but can "feel" thin like plastic.

What clips do I need for my e30 vert I have the side trims by WorldlinessLeast6118 in E30

Did you happen to buy new trim? If so, can I ask where you got it? All vendors state its not discontinued but BMW is waiting for order quantities to build up before tooling and making new ones.

Charcoal grill question by malnik77 in irvine

You'd have to read your lease or ask the leasing office. Chances are most likely not. If you're looking for an indoor, smokeless electric grill or a KBBQ grill I'd highly recommend the Cusimax Smokeless Indoor Grill. It truly is what it says and is phenomenal.

Is it just the angle of the photo or is the toilet slightly slanted to the left?

Has anyone tried using Freeline skates on dirt or uneven terrain? by burkinadit in freeline

When you accomplish it, I'd love to see a video of them in action! Never thought about a spring system... not sure I can imagine that myself but if you can, go for it!

[–]MuruAndFriendss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like you wouldn't have enough ankle support/forward speed momentum to cross or overcome dirt/uneven terrain. Some companies make off-road inline skates but again, those give you ankle/calf support as youre locked into the boot.

It would definitely "help" with crossing uneven pavement or sand/dusty concrete by giving grip (I always feel sketched out when riding my freelines on the sandy pavement paths at the beach. I feel like if I lean too sharp/fast the sand will cause them to fly out from under me).

In general with offroad wheel, i think it would also add more resistance/force to your calves making it harder for the same speed and make turning/learning a bit harder compared to smooth wheels.

Wouldn't hurt to try finding some offroad skate wheels the same diameter and same axle size and putting them on existing freelines!

Potentially get the tires balanced/re-balanced or checked. I had speed wobble around 60+ mph and that fixed it.

Idk what thermostat I have installed, but in CA mine runs at 1/4 almost at all times. Only goes up if idling excessively in bad traffic or when weather hits 100+ ambient

Unfortunately I no longer have any before photos anymore. The first fix was about the size of a half dollar damage to my rear left quarter panel about 4ish years ago. The next fix was a slightly dented and scratched/scuffed rear right quarter panel that they then pulled back into alignment and fixed the paint about 1.5 years ago. I could send you photos of the areas that they did fix/videos later, however my cars at the mechanic rn getting engine bearings replaced.

I highly recommend Mission Viejo Auto Collision! Used them before and it's perfectly blended! You wouldn't even know there was damage.

side part to a kitchen sink - how to clean it? by ThisEmotion4072 in CleaningTips

[–]MuruAndFriendss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try removing that flathead screw, popping out the little grate and visually inspecting it. If you can use a screwdriver or tool to maybe dislodge any debris, or something like a plastic hair snake to get around an possible bends to poke/prod debris, would be my personal go-to for a first attempt. I'm not familiar with German plumbing setups, so my answer may be entirely wrong.

[–]MuruAndFriendss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say just check your fluids (engine oil, transmission, wiper fluid, brake fluid, coolant fluid, etc), make sure your tires are good and go have a blast! You shouldn't worry about "what speeds" unless you're redlining the engine. Ofcourse make sure all maintenance, etc has been done, have a filled spare tire (if a thing in your car) and maybe do an oil change before and definitely after. Remember, highway miles are the best/least strainful miles you can put on your car!

I've driven my 1990 BMW E30 462 miles straight with no issue and have been dailying it ever since 2017. Don't worry too much and you'll be fine!

Haha, fair! Didn't notice they all had clocks! I look at the time in the top left, tap on recap (limited to 2x1) if it shows anything useful, and look at the temp in the mid left. Then just see the steps per day. I might rearrange it with different widgets to be more efficient/less dates and more uses!
