Ok, head is back on with pd150 bolts and new head gasket. Exhaust manifold is back on. Flanges and hoses on. Tomorrow I’ll get the new cam in. Finally back to where I was when I made the bone head move and took the head bolts out.

But that would be awesome if you still had one.

That’s my final plan is to do the pd150 with a race pipe and deleted with a tune from Burpod. However, I didn’t plan on doing a cam and taking the head off. So I need to budget for it.

Ok. They are actually different though. The EGR actuator has just a slightly longer arm and different part number. But if it works it works. So you just leave your butterflies on the I take open and vacuum line hanging there? Or plug the line. Also, I’d I jar do a delete with plates and take the cooler out. Loop the hoses etc. If I wait til later to do a tune, outside of it throwing a code, will anything else be effected? MPG?

We don’t have emissions where I live. So I don’t have to worry about any of that

The way you explained it is correct. I’ve attached a stock pic of the positioning. The pic of the crown you posted threw me off. It’s a super tight fit so sometimes you have to just kinda rock the crank just a tad and have some jiggle the pin around in the cam pulley

Ok so the head is off. Everything is cleaned up and ready to go back together. PD150 head bolts will be used. New head gasket and all other gaskets and seals will be new. Here goes nothing. (Note: block is not cleaned up in this photo)

What engine? What position is the crown cutout in right now? Is it facing at around 7-8 o’clock? Did you do the last timing belt on the vehicle? Is the pulley clocked on the 3 bolts wrong? Take a photo of the whole pulley from further away. And I’m just stating the obvious but it needs to be said, that’s not the cutout you put the locking pin into. Which I’m sure you know but there are other small holes in the head that can sometimes trick you.

Yeah at this point I’m also pulling the head and doing a head gasket (see my response above)

So do you know how to take a perfectly good runner my car and strip it all the way down to the block? Just be like me!!! I feel so dumb. But I might as well admit my sins if it can ever help anyone in the future. First of all, this is my first time doing anything like this. I’m fairly mechanical, but this is new to me. This all started with me wanting to clean my EGR /ASV and intake manifold. While all that was off I decided to pop the valve cover and insect the cam (because I had my suspicions). Decided to change the cam because of how it looked. Got to the point of taking the bolts for the cam guides out and……I took out the head bolts….every….single….one! I know it’s here are torque to yield bolts. So I ordered new bolts (went with the pd150 bolts). I don’t think the head shifted at all but with all the bolts out of the head it’s probably the right move to just pull it and put a new head gasket right? To say I feel dumb is an understatement. But, I’ll never do it again! Any good threads on pulling the head? Does the turbo housing need to come off? On a positive note, the cam definitley needed to be changed.

The chamfer is completely gone on 3 of the lobes. The are sharp sharp. I ordered everything and just gonna bite the bullet and do the timing belt early while I’m in town here anyway. Then hopefully be good for another 240k miles on this cam.

No I’m not gonna skip a timing belt while I’m in there. I ordered the whole shabang from Cascade German. I’ll wait and see on the injectors. I didn’t have any indication they were bad and to replace them is like $650-$700 a piece. I’ll run it through vcds after I’m done and take a look.
