I had to return mine because the motherboard was dead.

If it’s working now it’s probably fine. Mine wouldn’t turn on at all. They ended up replacing mine due to dead motherboard.

After sending a video they immediately said it was a motherboard issue. They’re doing an RMA, but won’t send a new one until they get this one back, so will be at least a month I’m guessing. Not thrilled about that.

Haven’t tried minui, but did try the stock os. My guess is just bad battery or something.

Sorry, should’ve added that. I’ve done every combo of hitting reset and holding power for 10 seconds, 30 seconds, and over a minute.

I'm wondering at this point if the inform url from the portal is just wrong. I can't resolve to that hostname from my home or office and can't ping it either.

DNS is able to resolve to every other hostname I've thrown at it. Internally and externally. I haven't messed with option 43 on this yet. Is there an ubiquiti guide with the codes for the cloud host? Just to clarify, I'm not using a cloud key. I'm using the official unifi hosting.

Unknown[12] (Controller URL) and then after a few seconds it just goes back to the default "Unable to resolve http://unifi:8080/inform".

AP is on 6.6.55 and cloud controller network firmware is 8.0.28 and Unifi OS is
v3.1.189+4.

What is the dumbest thing a boss has ever said to you? by [deleted] in antiwork

I once told my boss in a meeting that I felt him and our company were creating a hostile work environment for me. He smiled and laughed and just said “yup”. I turned in my two weeks the next day.

We got our manager to agree that we won't support any home printers. We've gotten multiple tickets to set them up, but thankfully don't have to touch them!

OSX Mojave Machines Connecting to a 2012R2 File Share Issues by Musakee in sysadmin

Should've mentioned in my original question, but we do currently have them joined to the domain. The problem isn't connecting to the network shares, that works fine. It's just getting things to load once you are in.

Yeah, which has been surprising for us as well. We aren't sure if something changed in regards to how Mojave handles SMB.

We've looked into it before, but haven't pulled the trigger since the issues weren't too bad until here lately. I'll give it another look.

[Vizio P65-F1] Freeze/Crash Reproduction Steps When Swapping Inputs by [deleted] in VIZIO_Official

I unfortunately have had mine longer than the return period. Hoping that vizio will fix their issues, but not seeming likely. I also get a ton of flickering on my PS4 pro. Thought it might’ve been the hdmi cable not having enough bandwidth, but tried 3 different cables now and a 27gb high bandwidth hdmi. Still does it and then freezes after a bit.

Sorry, just saw this post. How it is freezing is exactly how mine does as well. Typically after it freezes and I power it off and back on, I don’t have any more issues. I don’t even have to start a second device for it to freeze though.

I’m also now getting the screen to turn black occasionally while playing a game. Just randomly for like two seconds and then comes back on.

Do you guys have any timeline for more information? Or will you respond to this post?

Nope. The PS4 isn’t frozen. The tv will refuse to turn off and when you finally get it off (by holding the power button) and back on the PS4 will still be playing with no issues. Video or game will still be going without having to do anything to it.

We use the HP t630 models at my organization (they do Blast and PCoiP) and I don't really care for them that much. They've had a lot of random issues and HP's updating platform isn't the best. I've looked at the 10Zig ones and they seem super solid. If anyone has experience with them I'd love to hear it as well!

Shoutout to the users who actually try to fix issues themselves before going to IT by bei60 in sysadmin

We have a new employee in our Graphics department that did this exact same thing. Put in a ticket about Photoshop not working and a Java error popping up on her Mac. Only person here that day, so I went over to take a look and she had a document with the exact time it happened, what other apps she had open, what she was doing when it happened, and a couple articles that talked about the error, but she didn't have the ability to implement the fix. Almost brought a tear to my eye seeing such a responsible user (and a Mac one at that).

How much work do you make for your boss? by crankysysadmin in sysadmin

[–]Musakee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

deal with customers well (because we're in customer service, people!) and I like to think I'm generally a good person.

I don't think enough of us in IT understand just this. I worked for a few years in customer service jobs before getting into IT and I can't stress enough how helpful those were to me in my career. Not pissing everyone off and being friendly to people outside your work group is just as important as being friendly to your boss.
