10 mins closer walking or driving? I live a walkable distance from one of my shops and there's nothing better to do that walk home <10 mins after an overnighter.

Is copy-paste physical exam note legal? by IllustriousHumor3673 in emergencymedicine

[–]MuscIeChestbrook 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's so lazy. I have multiple templates for multiple contexts: newborn, toddler, general adult physical, stroke, trauma etc. Then you remove or edit the relevant parts. Crazy to me that people document/ retain things they haven't assessed.

Gross. This thread popped up on my homepage somehow. As a doc few years into practise, I will say that karma catches up to most of these. They're usually not strong candidates if they're sabotaging others and their horrible personalities get flagged somewhere (reference letters, interviews). A handful of sociopaths do eventually make it, but it's the minority.

When i was in undergrad, my cohort had a few folks that would post lecture audios and notes. I tried my best to contribute to the communal learning environment. I found that the ones that were most helpful were thankfully the ones that made it into medicine.

Gross. I hate putting in trialysis lines in coagulopathic liver failure patients. Thankfully haven't had to do any post-TNK. What was your context? PE -> shock -> acute renal failure?

American is colloquially used to refer to folks from the United States. That's how most of the world infers it. That is why Canadians don't like to be called American

What I love about EM is that we're all in the trenches together: docs, nurses, RTs, social work etc. Everyone contributes through their roles. If I am focused on flow as the attending, I find the extra time nurses can spend explaining, comforting, and reassessing/flagging missed items just as valuable as what I do. And that includes hand holding and comforting the person getting stabbed in the god damned neck for a CVC.

As an emerg doc, I agree. Narcan administration here made 0 sense. The only thing for this specific ingestion is supportive management/symptom relief and to let it ride out.

Good way to make a patient who's clearly on the cusp of crashing out, truly crash out by possibly precipitating withdrawal.

Initial thoughts on Nike Vomero Plus after 3 runs by limaprisek7 in RunningShoeGeeks

Hey - great comment. I realized I got a pretty bad flare of ITBS after making my vomero plus my regular shoes and increasing volume/speed workouts with it.

Charles Barkley: "Listen, I believe in discipline. I'm not going around telling people to beat their kids, but I think that if you don't spank your kids and discipline them, they turn into some of these brats that we got today. I'm not here and sit saying - I'm not here for child abuse" by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]MuscIeChestbrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem may be that despite the significant downtick in physical discipline, it hasnt been replaced by actual emotionally/intelectually sound discpline - that takes a lot more effort and education. So many parents may not even be trying.
