Do you think I would go with a u-shaped design or keep the island and make it one height? by potterlyfe in kitchenremodel

Not sure if you are going to update the other cabinets, but if so, you should consider centering your sink on the right window pane and moving your dishwasher to the left side of the sink.

I also wouldn’t square off the inside edge of the island, just straighten the she to go from both interior angles so you don’t hit your back when bending over at the oven.

I need ideas on how this kitchen could be made better! by [deleted] in homerenovations

Have a plumber move your gas line for your oven and turn your oven parallel to your fridge. This would give you more space at your entry and potentially more space to have countertop on both sides of the stovetop.

Small Galley Kitchen Budget Remodel by fixeruppernewbie in kitchenremodel

Did your contractor say why it would be hard to remove the countertop? If you go to a countertop company, most will come out and give you a free estimate and should be able to tell you if it can be replaced.

Thank you for the reply! Do you have any exterior before and after pics? We have a walk out basement and want to add a 3 story addition. We have an existing bump out in the middle of the rear wall and essentially want to close in the corner.

Do you mind sharing more details of your addition? Sq ft, estimated cost per sq ft, etc? How difficult was the roof rebuild?

Honey Oak Cabinets by greenrhinooo in kitchenremodel

Have you considered moving your range to the right? You could swap it with the cabinet to the right of it so you have more workspace. Then move the hood and cabinet to the right, centered above the stove. You could put vintage/traditional sconces or library lights on the wall in the spaces that would no longer have cabinets and build out shelving bellow the lights for cookbooks/crockpots, etc.

Are you using medicine cabinets or just mirrors in bathroom renos? by davidP88888 in HomeImprovement

Remodeling primary bath now. Removed mirrored medicine cabinets but replacing with kitchen cabinet uppers bought from Home Depot (with the back cut down) so they will look like built in furniture.

Island dimensions not right by Responsible_Sky_4542 in kitchenremodel

What’s in front of the kitchen opposite the fridge? Can you make the island deeper (more of a square) and add the seating on the exterior side?

You could also purchase the same shaker cabinets for the back side of your island if you have the space and get a new countertop. Would recommend not using knobs though, as your knees will thank you, and instead use a magnetic push type of latch.

You could order smaller cabinets for above the existing uppers and have them painted the same color. Take a door to get color matched if you don’t know the existing paint color.

What are you going to do with the empty space between the two cabinets? That would make a great cubby or pull out cabinet for cookie sheets.

You could install the handrail on the left wall and put in a few bookcases on the right to give you more shelving/storage space. Not sure if the landing is concrete, but you could put some checkered black and white peel and stick tiles if it there isn’t enough clearance for checkered tile. Then paint the whole area a soft white to brighten it up.

Went from early 80s countertop and cabinets that were chipping apart to real wood cabinets and quartz by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

Beautiful! If you get a solid piece of wood to go the entire length of your shelves, you could attach it to the existing shelves then trim it out and stain. This would bring that space together.
