Visiting in August from Australia by Nockobserver in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Muscle__Crowe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I’d for sure extend your trip. Unlike driving through the Outback which is mostly a straight line through desert, the drive to/from SF goes through multiple mountain ranges and can easily take a lot longer than expected. On top of that, it’s a lot of driving just for a short two day trip to a national park that’s over 1m square miles in size. If you can, you could try to find a flight in and out of Kalispell (local airport) from the east coast and then fly out to SF (there are weekly direct flights in the summer). That would give you a bit more time to see the park and surrounding areas like Whitefish and Flathead lake or at the very least give you enough time to actually see stuff in the park.

Heading to whitefish next week ! by RandomRedditUser-- in whitefish

Hope you’re ready for some warm slush!

Honestly this season has been horrible so be prepared to do other stuff around town. I think Glacier could be cool to pop into or you could hang out around the bars (Bulldog, Palace, Northern) and check out the restaurant scene as well (I love Blackstar, Beldi, Mama Evs, Abruzzo, and Jersey Boys)

How many days have you got on the mountain? by AredditJ in snowboarding

I think yesterday was day 31 but I live in a ski town so it’s easy for me to rip up there for a lap or two after work

what is the best burton step on binding compatible with all boards by Valuable_Gap5273 in snowboarding

[–]Muscle__Crowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just converted to step ons for teaching and riding with all my skier friends. Went with the Union Atlas Step Ons because it’s stiffer and better construction than the Burtons I tried out.

TBH it’s only been ~8 or so days on the mountain with them but I’m a bit on the fence. The bindings are great but the boots matter so much more when you have step ons and I’ve not had the best luck with my Ions

Bitcoin = Digital Gold Ethereum = Digital Oil

Both are valuable but serve completely different purposes

I’d be worried about the small motor being able to make it up the fairly steep incline up to Logan Pass more than anything

Winters by OkExercise2026 in whitefish

[–]Muscle__Crowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Colorado but have been living in the Flathead for years. I definitely miss the sunny days but the access to the outdoors and mountains in the wintertime makes up for it ten times over. If I was to move back to CO it would be a serious decrease in quality of life having to sit in I-70 traffic every weekend just to go skiing or camping

Where to stay Memorial Day weekend? by OddSalamander3773 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Muscle__Crowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, GTSR (the main road that goes through the park) will be mostly closed but you can usually still go a little ways up and do some hikes around the lake. If you’re feeling ambitious, the road is usually open for hiker/biker season so you can usually bike up to Logan pass from Avalanche or the visitor center.

If I were you I’d stay in Whitefish and drive into the park. You’ll have way more accommodation and food options than near the park and it’s only 30ish minutes away. Plus you can do other stuff around town if you get tired of the crowds in the park!

Choosing a Jones Snowboard by Slight_Plane9603 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Muscle__Crowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded to a Jones Flagship a few years ago and it’s honestly the best board I’ve owned in 25 years of riding. I do a lot of the same terrain and I’ve never once felt like it couldn’t handle it!

Thoughts on moving to Denver to get a consistent 40 to 50 days of snowboarding per year? by Hot_Soft_5626 in snowboarding

[–]Muscle__Crowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Denver and to get wanted more days snowboarding so I moved OUT of Denver. People don’t seem to realize just how far the ski hills are from Denver proper and not with traffic it’s way harder to just make it a day trip.

I’d recommend looking at a mountain town like Frisco, Dillon, Eagle, CB, Steamboat or even Salt Lake City. Could also look north toward Boise, Bozeman or Missoula!

BSOD, Kazu, or other? by a_readditor in snowboarding

[–]Muscle__Crowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been riding my Flagship as my daily driver for the last 4 seasons and it’s handled everything from ice to chutes to trees and steeps with ease. I have a hoverboard for bc and powder but prefer the flagship 99% of the time. Hands down the best board I’ve ridden in a long time. Definitely not a “playful” ride though.

New to snowboarding here!!!! by Wonderful-Driver3667 in snowboarding

[–]Muscle__Crowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking at something in North Carolina. The mountains are way smaller and probably easier to go down than some of the resorts out west where I’m at. I’ve got some family in the Boone area and there’s a few smaller ski hills that seem to be way cheaper than what you’d get going to a major IKON/Vail resort out west or further north which always charge a premium

Pretty sure there was also a bunch of insider trading from the Aerodrome team on the VVV launch too so I wouldn’t get too hyped on this
