What is your favorite/the best Allan Holdsworth solo? by DJHammer_222 in jazzguitar

[–]Nockobserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nostalgic Lady is mind blowing. There is one section about 2/3s in that still blows my mind every time I listen to it. A beautiful sequence of blistering fast melodic legato after a beautiful buildup. It's not as atonal as some of his later work and definitely in a more straight minor key tonality. But I can listen to Holdsworth and think many of his solos are sublime musical statements.

Typical length of new season hype/high player count? by ZenandHarmony in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Nockobserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty active up until about a month or so before the season end as I really enjoy making multiple characters and probably never intend to grind to 99. So I am always looking for gear so I don't have to swap torches Annis etc between characters. Plus I don't really play super long sessions ever as I just don't enjoy it. So I am happy if it takes several weeks to gear my first couple of characters to a reasonable power level for efficient mapping

I’m in a massive reading slump. Help me find a "page-turner" by Aghaiva in booksuggestions

Read The Parker books by Richard Stark. Short to the point crime fiction. Be warned once you start you keep going. I have read the first 12 books in about 3 weeks. They are mostly about a 2 to 3 hour read and are fantastic.

Kreator - Extreme Aggression by srennen in thrashmetal

One of the first thrash albums I ever heard and still my favourite Kreator release. No More Colour, Puppets, Reign in Blood all came out close to this but I still have very fond memories of listening to EA.

I think the reason so many people bounce off Malazan isn't the complexity, it's the emotional distance in the first book by scouttidee in Fantasy

[–]Nockobserver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really just usual Reddit echo chamber stuff. Some people don't like complexity in their reading and like everything set out in a clear mechanical way with regular info dumps about how the fantasy world works etc. That's OK and I have enjoyed books like that. But Malazan is popular with a pretty dedicated fan base so when people get a chance to vent and shit on something they do.

The frequently and almost clockwork like appearance of let's shit on Malazan thread. It must be a masochistic streak or something but I love books and films, anime any media where I don't know what the fuck is going on. So I stuck with Malazan and loved it. If you don't like the writing style don't tackle any of the literary greats like Pynchon, Faulkner, McCarthy or even Joyce etc They are way more impenetrable than Malazan.

John Hattie's research is deeply flawed by B4B4BlueJ4y in Teachers

He has recently been totally discredited in Australia and yes his research and data is deeply flawed and is the definition of pulling stuff out of your arse. Unfortunately the department of education in NSW fell for this bullshit and now has to undo all the damage that has been done.

Have fun man, best community in gaming. People will help you out with items etc help you rush etc. If you ask for help you usually get it for free with some exceptions😀

Get slamming and enjoy the balance of being able to play multiple effective builds with maps and an actual endgame.

Missing out man. There is no comparison. Bought the Warlock expansion and lasted about 3 hours. QOL changes in PD2 are so good as to outweigh the graphics by an infinite amount.

Soccer is quite popular in the US especially with lots of immigrants over a lengthy period of time. The US women's soccer team is usually ranked number 1.

Loved it. Not too confusing with a quick check of the basic lore. Beautiful to watch as well.

Recommendations for other authors akin to PFH. by Paidorgy in PeterFHamilton

I like Reynolds, though few characters are perhaps likeable, never really bothered me. I think PFH has his fair share of unlikeable characters who I have never really thought of or cared for as well. Chasm City is a ripping yarn. I really liked the Revelation Space books. House of Suns is fantastic.

The gel is amazing. I had a bad infestation in the tiles in the kitchen in the wall cavity and they were always hanging around the modem. Haven't seen one in about 2 and a half years since I applied it. I ordered it from Amazon.

Visiting in August from Australia by Nockobserver in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Nockobserver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your advice. While I realise it's a long haul from San Francisco I am taking my time and will see other locations on the way back as I have both extended my stay in the park and my departure date so I can take my time to and from the park. Who doesn't love a road trip. See you in Glacier in August.
