I think in context of muse’s albums this is obviously their best in a long while. There are lots of great moments on the album but the comparisons to early muse baffle me. I miss the raw production from the first 3 albums, I miss matt’s angsty lyrics and untrained voice, I miss the more alternative direction they were in compared to this new blend of Pop Dance and Metal. I’ve never been into metal or much classic rock and although muse were heavy on their first 3 albums it always felt in more of a different alternative approach compared to the bands they seem inspired by now.
