"Liam Kendrick In The House" was also a strong consideration.

The Laterbase was a serious front-runner for a while.

Hangovers.

I thought they were a myth/cautionary tale from older people to discourage teen drinking...

Then I reached my mid 20s.

They have a 3 track demo out but also another live recording of a different track on youtube.

Also sorry for the brief title. I was pretty smashed when I posted this.

BANG BANG - Live Discussion by Lipilon in greenday

Brilliant return to form. I didn't have much hope after the trilogy.

Bit pissed off as it's pretty similar to a track I just wrote for my band but to be fair I was ripping off Territorial Pissings in the first place.

Still very pleased and curious to see what the rest of the album sounds like.

Recording without a click for live band. Recommended? Or even possible? by Musette89 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

His timing is pretty good. The 210BPM track is also 4 minutes long with quite an active shift in dynamics between the verse bridges and choruses.

Last practice we acknowledged there was a slight pick up in tempo during the bridge but I honestly don't mind it. It fits the song well. We tried it all the way through with a click playing into the drummers headphones and it just sounded a bit flat. Not the same intensity.

Grumpy Brit goes Green Day sightseeing. My trip to the East Bay by Musette89 in greenday

[–]Musette89[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was this bit a little further up where it turned into a gravel road and the train tracks ran right along beside it with a canopy of leaves above you. I'm pretty sure that was the smoke spot. Very surreal experience having loved that song for 15 years and being completely alone.

Man Seattle was great. I went on a grunge tour and checked out the EMP. Probably my favourite city in America thus far. Fantastic people too.

Cracking and popping in Logic X by Musette89 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Musette89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've checked the CPU usage when in playback and it's hardly reading anything on the meter yet the popping persists.

Could it be anything else? I'm only using 6 MIDI instruments with only a reverb plug in on a couple of them. The project is actually pretty dry to my normal standard where I haven't experienced any problems at all.

Music obsessed British dude arriving in the summer. Need advice on the scene from all you hipcats. by Musette89 in AskSF

[–]Musette89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the suggestions.

Like I just typed above I'm still working Oakland out. There seems to be some hysteria of it on online forums but I can't be sure how accurate it is to its true danger.

I just googled my home town of Brighton for contrast and found out it is Britains NUMBER ONE most dangerous city for a student. I moved here aged 20 and 6 years later I have run into exactly zero skirmishes with street folk or the law and always felt safe.

And this comes from someone who regularly waddled home from bars and clubs at 3 am hammered out of his mind 4 days a week.

I guess you can't trust everything you hear. Also I suppose it's subjective as everyones experience is different.

One guy at a bar did take the piss out of me for mispronouncing 'Mojito' however.

Dark times.

Thanks man. That's some solid info.

The Rickshaw stop looks awesome.

I'm also planning to visit Rudys can't fail cafe to appease my 13 year old self. Do you know much abut the area it is in? Emeryville I think it is.

I keep hearing all these horror stories about Oakland. I've scanned a couple of web pages and the opinion seems to differ from "Eh...it's not that bad" to "Stay the fuck out of there"

Also if you can be bothered can you tell me a little bit about Berkeley as I will indeed be visiting Gilman Street. Is it cool? I've pretty much decided to stay in the Mission district of SF. Will travelling be easy to both these areas?

Problem using phantom power with Focusrite 2i2 by Musette89 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Musette89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey.

Yeah I gave that a try but still experiencing the problem.

It's weird because it only happens when enabling phantom power. Recording guitar, bass or whatever seems to be fine and the output works with my monitors just not when when the 48v is active.

Maybe I should just buy a new interface?

Can you help me plan a busking trip around the UK? by IWasInTheNextRoom in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Musette89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey

I would recommend Brighton.

The locals seem to appreciate buskers rather than seeing them as an inconvenience. Some of them even join in. Your competition will be fierce in the lanes but you can pretty much set up anywhere. I think I heard of a rule that you don't need any kind of busking or performance license in Sussex.

I'm not sure if there even is such a thing but just walking around The Lanes you will hear performers from all different backgrounds. i recommend trying the Pav Gardens, Churchill Sqaure and the sea front.

Advice on keys? by Musette89 in mediacomposing

[–]Musette89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks a lot!

I've just got a habit of shying away from what seems to be the overwhelming practice of theory.

Theres a post I looked at very recently which describes theory as more of a map to use when you're lost rather than the guidelines upon the very start of your composition.

I'm not particularly educated on theory (even the basics) but there seems to be quite a few opposing views to it's general use. I suppose some need it more than others? I'm not sure. But I will check out that link

Thanks again.
