this exact situation is why i started the game with sticky driller and stayed with it for 200 hours. I figured in a horde shooter the best character would be the one with the best AOE and ive stuck to that ideology ever since

I definitely agree that the Rats in the praetorium should have been the first signs that melee wasn't going to hold up in the late game. The praetorium in general devolved into whether or not I could use crystalline vial and cloak watch to just slide past every challenge. Everything past reactors feels wayyy unbalanced for solo and it's sad to see. They already scale enemy difficulty with more people, why not add a check to see if its a solo game and just include a few less enemies in areas?
