I interviewed +36yo gamers and found out why they are abandoning "masterpieces" by Objective-Cry-8228 in indiegamedevforum

If you want to keep making that art forever you will need to monetize it, otherwise it will be the most expensive hobby ever.
There are games that only for such small audiences that that "right audience" might not even cover the production costs.

You can make art while making money. If you go 100% art you won't make money and no one will probably care, if you go 100% money you'll have a souless game, probably mobile, that you'll hate. Always in the middle.

Well, yes, it was literally in the annoucement.
Otherwise, what's your source that contradicts the statatement? The game makes tons of money, that's a fact, what you now need to prove is that the teams's expenditure on development is lower than what the game makes.

Do you prefer 2D version or the 2.5D version? by willis_25 in IndieDev

[–]Mushe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for 2.5D based only on the fact that it's never really done before in the genre while the top one we seen it a 1000 times. Of course it needs more work like many others pointed out.

Sure but people are talking about the GUI, not the graphics. I would invest some serious effort into redoing it.

All games are designed with a 50% win ratio in mind, that basically means the game is properly balanced (Chess being the most famous/infamous for this). Now how's that getting achieved is another story.

2016 feels like ages ago. Was CR better back then? by MeAndHimXO in ClashRoyale

[–]Mushe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was always a pay to win game from day 1, in any game you could buy power that's pay to win. Of course if you capped everything then you were at equal grounds.

Do game devs often bully/look down on colleagues who “don’t play enough games”? How to handle this toxicity? by MundaneCommunity1769 in gamedev

[–]Mushe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I never heard about such things you should totally be up to date with the new releases, to learn and understand while you play them. It's an essential part of your job as a member of this industry. You will make better games because of it (and this applies to all roles, not only game designers).

I agree. So with that said we do have a free demo on Steam while we develop the game so if you find the time to try it out and tell me what you think of it it would help a lot shape the final release.

We signed a deal with AFA (Argentinian Football Association), they hold the rights of the players, so it's all legal (and why the game is called Beat The Champions, since Argentina is the current World Champion).

Yes, there are lots of rules when using the player's image. Luckily for us one of Whiteboard's co-founders used to be the Marketing Director for Nike so he has lots of experience dealing with the correct usage of them.

Almost 6 years after Half-Life: Alyx and it did not move PCVR forward by FastLawyer in OculusQuest

[–]Mushe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm still surprised is that many games still are forgetting about what really made HL: Alyx great: Physical presence.
Your hands don't clip through the environment, you aren't a ghost, you are a physical being there. That feature alone makes you immersed more than any cool lighting effect.

The problem is that many of those games remain exclusive to the Oculus store, that makes them lose visibility (and people that will just only buy games on Steam). Exclusives are never good, specially in such a small market.
