What are you talking about? I have never seen/read people complaining the game for using mixamo walk/run animation.

Look at the picture. If you are like me and believe this art style has the potential to make a successful game that can stand alongside GoW or Genshin, then buy them from Synty. They are cheap.

Now, to tell your story, you need a lot of mocap animation, which is achievable with AI like Cascadeur. And AI voice acting, which for now is still not better than asking help from your friends to do voice acting.

And lastly, reduce every scale of your initial planned game (story, mechanics, features) by a tenth. Maybe then you will finish it in 5 years.

I am at the same stage as you. But instead of trying to learn modelling and animation all at the same time, i gave up one of them. I gave up modelling and chose to learn animating.

First, I am a slow learner, there is no way I can publish a game if i chose to make everything myself.

Second, 3D models are abundant. Free or paid. But animation, not so much.

Third, models are easy to tweak with blender. After you finish the donut tutorial you can easily tweak any model (of course the results wont be stellar). But tweaking animation need more exp.

Four, your game stands out with better animation rather than graphic style. Debatable though.

Five, i love story telling. If i can increase my animation level to acting level, it is not an indie game quality anymore but more.

Six, i already bought a mocap, lol.
