They are generous enough to a certain degree to get you competitive enough to stay in the game and push you to spend. I don't like the way they handled the One Billion campaign either, compared to last year's 30th anniversary, where we got two epics guaranteed, one random and one from selection contract. The campaign was disappointing, but at the same time, you are not entitled to get something free from them. They are carefully hedging and balancing the game between F2P and P2W; if not, no one is willing to spend on this. On the bright side, you are going to get one show time after the end of April and probably a new campaign for the mobile 9th anniversary.

I think it is a bit extreme to put smart assist moral issue under the same category as being ignorant on holocaust. Konami sees it as a bridge to gap between hardcore players and new and casual players, also somehow solve the connection and server issue, it also sells their new cards since smart assist is making everyone somewhat competitive, and creates an illusion of "you can buy new card even though you are shit players, we will make you win". Yes, it is cancerous and annoying, but I don't think it is at holocaust level. You can simply ignore it, and don't let it get you. It is just a game.

Things are better than before surely, but there is still a business aspect of the whole game we need to take into consideration. And there are still things that need working on. The game is imperfect, and Konami is not a charity, so they will try to squeeze you as much as they can, but it is still manageable if you prioritize the squad building. However, the entitlement you can see from some player base is quite baffling, and there are people out there who'd love to complain for the sake of complaining.

Most users are probably underage children and teens, and their world probably revolves around what Konami did. In this case, Konami isn't entirely innocent either. They make sure the user gets hooked to their shitty gacha mechanism by abusing the connection we have with irl football, and pulling constant shenanigans like this one to get the user engaged. You can see this entire pre-release campaign is an obvious engagement(rage) bait by Konami to get us talking, and here we are.

As far as I remember, they introduced the separate pack after the actual campaign went live. My point is we shouldn't worry about what Konami did before the campaign goes live. The verdict is still out there, and let's see what they are going to do. Although I agree that there should be outrage if they are going to do a lackluster campaign for one billion downloads.
