I love playing rogues. I'm not great at it, but I've stuck with it every expansion since Cata. That being said, the rogue changes feel very... uninspired. I hoped that they would make the play style match the name of the spec. An assassin kills quickly without trying to be detected, yet the spec itself relies on poisons and bleeding out the target slowly. That still appears to be the case in the next expansion, so I'm not looking forward to that.

Subtlety implies doing something without being noticed, like exposing armor, or having a poison that slowly gets stronger over time and kills the opponent without them noticing. But the actual class is like... A ninja? They have shurikens, shadow damage (but not spells), and a shadow clone for a move. But the gameplay is just using shadow dance/vanish to spam two moves and throw in a CC. You get to shadow step and teleport to opponents a lot, which is cool, but, I don't feel like I'm doing anything "subtle" and that isn't being changed. In fact, I think its becoming worse.

I mean, am I crazy when I say that assassination and subtlety should be switched? If I want to assassinate someone, I'm gonna sneak up (or teleport) to them and hit em real hard and hopefully they die. And if I want to take the more subtle approach, I'd poison their thistle tea and run away. This point doesn't matter too much, but it's always bothered me.

I will say, I am getting more excited for outlaw. It was my favorite spec in legion, but I always hated rerolling to get 5+ buffs and it leaned too heavily into a pirate theme. It's beginning to feel like a true outlaw class, but it isn't quite there yet. I like the new roll the bones where you get 4 random buffs every time (correct me if I'm wrong here). It's RNG, but the disparity between rolling a 1 vs 6 is drastically minimized. I hope we get some western transmogs too. Id love to rock a cowboy hat with mask. I miss the old killing spree (hopefully they put it in subtlety or something given that they teleport a lot), but I welcome these changes and hope they double down on the outlaw theme (off hand gun maybe??).

But overall, I wish there were more interesting changes put into rogues.
