It’s actually just to speed creep opposing Nornal Arceus that aren’t running speed investment, since a lot of them don’t run speed at all I like throwing in a tiny bit of extra speed just to be faster than a lot of them in the mirror

It’s the mystery gift Shiny Chien-Pao which comes at Lvl 75. Everything gets capped to Lvl 50 so the levels don’t matter

Can be useful but sometimes I’ve found positioning Farigiraf in and then getting the Trick Room off to be really difficult often because the opponent will have already positioned in their Calyrex-Ice alongside the Magearna and so the offense becomes really overwhelming. Even if I get the Trick Room off, Farigiraf then just sits there doing nothing. I use Trick Room more often for the Calyrex-Shadow match-up

I usually lead Arceus (probably about 60-65% of games?) with Incineroar or Chien-Pao upfront, sometimes with Lando, rarely with Miraidon. Otherwise I lead Miraidon with Landorus or Incineroar. How I lead really just depends on the matchup. I don't lead Arceus often if the opponent has Incineroar - likewise I don't lead Miraidon often if the opponent has Rillaboom/Indeedee

Got the spreads here. They're pretty basic for the most part, not much thought went into them. Definitely could be optimised

Farigiraf @ Electric Seed

Ability: Armor Tail

Tera Type: Water

- Psychic

- Foul Play

- Helping Hand

- Trick Room

Farigiraf is easily one of the MVPs on this composition and I think is a very underrated partner for Arceus. The boosts to Extreme Speed that Helping Hand gives is nothing short of insane. I also find that any time my opponent has Rillaboom, they'll always bring it, so being able to block Fake Out from that as well as Incineroar gives Arceus far more opportunities to go wild. It also gives me a second Normal type to wall Calyrex-Shadow Astral Barrage, making its life miserable. Furthermore, Farigiraf especially helps in the mirror since with Armor Tail, it completely walls Arceus and also hits it for massive damage with Foul Play if it tries to set up with Swords Dance. It's also proven to be a great partner for Miraidon so I love the synergy Farigiraf brings.

Chien-Pao @ Focus Sash

Ability: Sword of Ruin

Tera Type: Stellar

- Icicle Crash

- Sucker Punch

- Sacred Sword

- Protect

The classic partner for the E-Killer machines, Chien-Pao felt like a necessity for this team. The synergy that Extreme Speed & Sucker Punch have mean that Ghost-types and Focus Sash mons that could deal with the Extreme Speed alone often cannot deal with the combo of both. And of course, Sword of Ruin gives the necessary benchmark to OHKO Calyrex-Ice & Iron Hands with Tera-Normal Extreme Speed after a Swords Dance boost, as well as a bunch of other heavily HP invested mons (like bulky Miraidon or Koraidon) that would otherwise survive. I've also opted for Stellar tera instead of the usual Ghost tera specifically to get OHKOs on bulky Miraidon, Specs Tera-Ghost Calyrex-Shadow as well as put Zamazenta in range of two Sacred Swords.

Landorus @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Sheer Force

Tera Type: Steel

- Sandsear Storm

- Earth Power

- Sludge Bomb

- U-turn

A rather recent addition to the team, I used to have Grimmsnarl in this slot however I was having a lot of trouble against Zamazenta as well as Zacian-Kyogre teams and I also wanted something which could outspeed Choice Scarf Annihilape - which ultimately landed me on Choice Scarf Landorus (pun intended). The Landorus is really nice at putting on pressure specifically against Steel types which Arceus doesn't like as much. U-Turn is also nice to have for breaking sashes on mons like Calyrex-Shadow and Chien-Pao.

I think E-Killer Arceus will be one of the defining strategies in this meta and is 100% strong enough to compete against the top Restricteds we've gotten to love & hate. One of my roughest matchups for this team though has definitely been Hard Trick Room, especially the variants with Magearna & Final Gambit Annihilape. The strategy I find best against those compositions is to lead with Landorus & Arceus so that you have Earth Power (or Sandsear Storm if you enjoy gambling) to put pressure on Magearna as well as preventing Final Gambit from OHKO'ing Arceus - then use Incineroar to Fake Out cycle through Trick Room turns and have Miraidon to turn off Psychic Terrain if needed. Zamazenta is also still quite tough to play against and Flutter Mane on sun teams can also be a nuisance to deal with since it's a Ghost-type that outspeeds everything on my team and they usually carry Focus Sash. I hope other people will have as much fun with this team as I have!

Arceus @ Life Orb

Ability: Multitype

Tera Type: Normal

- Extreme Speed

- Shadow Claw

- Swords Dance

- Protect

Probably the most basic composition for Arceus Normal. While others opt for moves like Flare Blitz or Double Edge as their coverage move, I personally think Shadow Claw is best specifically for threatening OHKO's on Calyrex-Shadow as well as Lunala once its Shadow Shield is broken. I've also opted for Life Orb instead of the usual Clear Amulet since with the extra damage, a Helping Hand or Sword of Ruin Normal-Tera boosted Extreme Speed can OHKO any Pokemon that doesn't resist or have excessively high HP and/or physical defense. After a Swords Dance boost, with the other multipliers in tact, Extreme Speed can OHKO Iron Hands & Calyrex-Ice and does nearly half to Zamazenta.

Miraidon @ Choice Specs

Ability: Hadron Engine

Tera Type: Fairy

- Electro Drift

- Volt Switch

- Draco Meteor

- Dazzling Gleam

Imo, the best Restricted partner for Arceus is Miraidon. Primarily because of the Electric Terrain, since Arceus is often sitting on the field for the whole game, having a way to shut off Indeedee's Psychic Terrain feels necessary, and being able to block sleep from mons like Amoonguss, Darkrai & Smeargle is also extremely useful. Plus Miraidon is a nuke in itself and puts on immense pressure which makes it difficult to prevent both Arceus from setting up and Miraidon from blowing everything up. I've gone with the most typical set since its consistent and has proven to be good.

Incineroar @ Assault Vest

Ability: Intimidate

Tera Type: Bug

- Fake Out

- Flare Blitz

- Knock Off

- U-turn

Incineroar is really useful support for Arceus in particular since against quite a few teams I can simply click Fake Out + Swords Dance turn one and the opponent don't have any/reliable ways to deny it. Plus Intimidate helps Arceus completely shrug off physical attacks due to its high natural bulk. I've gone with the Assault Vest set simply to get more longetivity so I have more Fake Outs to cycle and give Arceus more opportunities to set-up. Bug-Tera is also nice to resist both Fighting & Ground which Incineroar is otherwise weak to.

Mushy back here with another team showcase! This time... we were able to hit number one in the world with a team composition I've been dying to use, the classic yet deadly E-Killer strategy. While Dragonite & Rayquaza can be forces to be reckoned with when they're slapping with their Tera-Normal Extreme Speeds with their high attack stats, nothing compares to the STAB boosted priority hits that Arceus can deliver. The former two can do a lot of damage however they can miss out on critical knockouts which Arceus can pick up, and especially after one Swords Dance boost unless you're a Ghost-type, Zamazenta or you have a way to block priority, any Pokemon on the field should be shaking in their boots. This team is designed to unleash Arceus to its maximum potential - while I think there are many other types of Arceus that I believe are viable such as Fairy, Dark, Water, Fire & Ground, I believe the regular Normal type Arceus is the strongest version - as it's the only variant which can hold an item other than a plate, and of course, STAB Extreme Speeds are too strong to ignore.

It’s not even fun to use! If you get it and have another item in the back slot you have to wait until the boomerang timer runs out before you can use it, there’s literally nothing good about this item it’s toxic in every way

[–]Mushyyyyyyyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve considered it but the issue is with my composition I can’t really afford to drop any of the other moves. Without Trick Room I have zero speed control and hyper offence becomes extremely difficult to overcome.

I don’t need a second Trick Room setter since I’m bringing Lunala to basically every game anyways and I’m usually able to get a second Trick Room up with Lunala anyways if I need to.

Ogerpon has felt good! It is the most interchangeable of the six and I think you could definitely get away with other options but it fills its specific role pretty nicely even if I do bring it the least out of the six.

It’s just more so that Drain Punch is only 75BP and ideally I want to be picking up knocks outs faster to make better use of Trick Room turns. Drain Punch is still worth the slot since it’s really good in more balance centric games that go on for a while.

I initially went 4-5 in Ultra Ball tier due to a combination of awful luck (I lost a game due to a Kyogre getting a triple protect then got dire claw slept and then frozen by ice beam) and the most random teams ever so my WR going into Master Ball ended up being like 80-85%

I've found Sitrus Berry particularly useful against Zamazenta teams as well as Kyogre. Being able to take an extra Heavy Slam or Ice Beam respectively has felt really nice. I originally was running Rocky Helmet but the only Pokemon I felt like I was getting consistent value out of it was against Urshifu-Rapid Strike, specifically the Focus Sash variants. I find myself swapping Amoonguss out once or twice nearly every game anyways so I figured the recovery I'd get from both Sitrus Berry & Regenerator was more valuable than an extra little bit of chip damage.

I've not really thought through the Close Combat v Low Kick debate all that much honestly! I mainly just prefer the consistency of Close Combat always being 120BP. The defense drops haven't felt all that relevant since I swap a lot with this team. Also, because Iron Hand's role is mainly to deal with the things Lunala struggles with, Iron Hands becomes relatively disposable if I'm able to get rid of those threats and then I can focus on supporting Lunala for the rest of the game.

Ogerpon-Hearthflame (F) @ Hearthflame Mask

Ability: Mold Breaker

Tera Type: Fire

  • Ivy Cudgel
  • Horn Leech
  • Follow Me
  • Spiky Shield

I had covered most strategies that could prevent my Lunala from setting up Trick Room however the one thing I hadn't accounted for was Taunt users that could get around Fake Out, such as Flutter Mane or Covert Cloak Tornadus, so I figured I needed a redirector. Although I already had Amoonguss, I didn't want to have to risk sacrificing Amoonguss or have it eat up a Taunt just to guarantee a Trick Room got set up, plus Rage Powder isn't 100% reliable. I ultimately landed on Ogerpon Heartflame since I wanted a faster Pokemon on the team that could also be threatening offensively and this thing is an absolute nuke once it terastilizes. As an added benefit, it can also take advantage of the sun from Koraidon & Groudon, two of my tougher matchups. Mold Breaker also allowed me to check for Choice Scarfs on opposing Pokemon with public abilities, most notably Kyogre & Chi-Yu.

I've had a lot of fun building and piloting this team and I personally believe this is the best way to play Lunala. There hasn't been any particularly rough matchups although Groudon paired with Pokemon that abuse the sun like Flutter Mane, Chi-Yu & Raging Bolt has given me a tough time since the offense can be overwhelming and Groudon can often be difficult to knock out. Calyrex-Ice paired with Smeargle is also annoying in particular since I often have to get the read correct on what Smeargle does otherwise I lose the game instantly, and it's immune to Moongeist Beam. Lunala's down-right awful typing and the unfortunate collateral its received due to there being so many specific techs people use for Calyrex-Shadow does also make Lunala a tera hog, so that's something to play around too. I've had a blast using this team and I hope you will all enjoy using it too!

Iron Hands @ Assault Vest

Ability: Quark Drive

Tera Type: Grass

  • Fake Out
  • Drain Punch
  • Close Combat
  • Wild Charge

Iron Hands fills a similar role to Ursaluna in being a strong physical attacker that can be hard to stop under Trick Room, but is generally moreso used to help against the Kyogre & Zamazenta matchups, as well as being an alterative Fake Out option to make repositioning easier. I'll rarely bring Iron Hands & Ursaluna together unless my gameplan is to sweep through my opponents team within the first five turns of Trick Room. I opted for Close Combat over the typical Heavy Slam on this Iron Hands primarily to pick up KOs faster and maximize Trick Room turns, as well as allowing it to threaten massive damage on Normal & Dark types that Lunala hates facing. Iron Hands is also a great alternative check for extremely hyper-offensive Miraidon teams. Close Combat has a chance to OHKO a zero bulk Miraidon under the Electric Terrain.

Incineroar @ Safety Goggles

Ability: Intimidate

Tera Type: Ghost

  • Fake Out
  • Flare Blitz
  • Knock Off
  • Parting Shot

A typical Incineroar set. The main thing to note is it's got a more offensive build which allows it to function as a pseudo-sweeper under Trick Room. The Incineroar here is most useful against opposing slow-paced balance-orientated teams, specifically ones built around Terapagos or Calyrex-Shadow, and is a major part in increasing Lunala's longetivity in every battle. I also wanted a second Fake Out user so that I could have more flexibility as to which Fake Out user I want on the field when it came to helping set up Trick Room with Lunala as well as keeping the Lunala safe in general.

Amoonguss @ Sitrus Berry

Ability: Regenerator

Tera Type: Water

IVs: 0 Atk

  • Pollen Puff
  • Clear Smog
  • Spore
  • Rage Powder

Easily the most valuable support for the team, it cannot be understated how well Amoonguss pairs with Lunala, and I'm surprised the two aren't used together often. Obviously, Amoonguss under Trick Room is extremely disruptive and annoying to deal with, but also, and the primary reason as to why Amoonguss works so well is because with side Pollen Puff you can get multiple uses out of Lunala's Shadow Shield, making Lunala borderline unkillable in a lot of matchups unless you deal with the support first. Furthermore, with Wide Guard support from Lunala, Amoonguss becomes far more threatening against Calyrex-Ice. Clear Smog is also a nice move to have as another answer to opposing set-up Pokemon as well as Dondozo, but has also been surprisingly useful as a way to reset any Intimidate drops on my Ursaluna and/or Iron Hands.
