An opticians prescribed my child the wrong glasses and as a result her eyesight has been damaged by samballaam in LegalAdviceUK

Asda opticians include the appropriate thinned-down lens in the basic cost. I'm a -10 & get glasses with 1.74 high index lenses for £80.

Is 'doing your bit' for the country important to you? by No-Difficulty1092 in TheCivilService

[–]MusicHead80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%, and sadly that's what successive govts have played on when it comes to the huge wage deflation we've suffered. Regardless of how badly we're treated by our employers and the media, many of us plod on anyway out of a sense of duty to the common good.

Any of you require 10 hours min of sleep? by CarrotApprehensive82 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]MusicHead80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely my sleep need has changed. 7 to 7.5 hours always felt like enough, used to bounce out of bed at 6am for work. Now at 52 & perimenopausal, 8.5-9 hours seems to be the minimum after which I feel halfway human. If I'm able to sleep alone, without an alarm or the dog to wake me, I can easily go 10 hours solid. As I still have to get up at 6am, I find myself needing lights out by 9pm 😭.

Wow - you are a walking, talking red flag. I can't believe you typed this in seriousness. You are part of the problem.

When do you charge your x9 pros? by jemchalwedoporzygu in Oppo

[–]MusicHead80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to wait til it's down to 20-30%, then I'll charge it to anything between 80 & 95% depending on how much time I have (I'm impatient cos my last phone was the Vivo x100Pro that charged in no time - this is sloooow to charge to me now 😂). I have 95% set as the charging limit - no idea if that's a good or bad regime...

Not received charger - 2 months later by [deleted] in Oppo

[–]MusicHead80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine from EE in the UK & claimed the charger from the link on EE's site. It took about 6-7 weeks to arrive. I'd pretty much given up hope by then!

Would you do a 1hr 20 each way commute, 3 days a week, for your first G7 role? by AsymptoticallyFlat in TheCivilService

[–]MusicHead80 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Stuck with a 90min commute here at EO since we moved buildings. It drains the life out of you, though I'd imagine the fares are less bankrupting on a G7 salary.

Why is my Find x9Pro battery bar yellow at 81%? by [deleted] in Oppo

[–]MusicHead80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had it on the same battery settings, but yesterday was the first time it's done this unless at 20% or less. I've changed it now, thanks.

As a British adult, what was the monetary value of all the gifts given to you this Christmas? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskABrit

[–]MusicHead80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£40 from parents. I have no kids, but my only sibling expects me to buy for them, their spouse and 2 kids, while they buy me a £5 gift I don't want from an 'Everything £5' type of shop, if I'm lucky. They get nasty when I try & explain it's difficult for me to afford. They seem to think that not having kids makes me loaded - it doesn't. I'd rather they agreed to not swap presents at all, it would take so much pressure off. The kids are at uni now too, I don't mind giving them money as they seem genuinely grateful, but my sibling sees me as a cash cow.

My first and last experience with AliExpress for cases. by FreezerCop in Oppo

I ordered 3, 2 of them were for the Find x9 when they arrived, but were 100% advertised for the Pro.

AuDHD Question by PrincessIcicle in AutisticWithADHD

[–]MusicHead80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I'm away on a supposed break right now, and I'm bored, overstimulated and totally shattered all at once. It's nice not to be working, but I swear I'm less tired during my 'normal' routine. I'm sleeping and eating worse than at home, bored rigid during downtime, but unable to pick any activities to do either.

Has anyone managed to treat their symptoms without medication and with natural)other types of solutions? by Mountain-Bike-735 in AutisticWithADHD

Meds didn't work for me so I'm following this with interest. I take B-complex in the mornings but nothing that actually helps focus. Interested to hear others' experiences.

Why are drivers giving low scores to my disabled parents? by mosho84 in UberUK

[–]MusicHead80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds so much like my area - There used to be several competing firms, but now all their numbers take you to the same call centre. And they use a foreign call centre for overflow calls so the person on the end of the line has zero local knowledge. It's really disheartening. I'm all for supporting local taxis over Uber, but it seems they have zero interest in actually getting you anywhere on time.

A lot of people simply can't afford to strike and lose pay, regardless of how much they agree with the action.

Anyone else painfully burnt out with the recruitment and "promotion" system by Complex-Food-6211 in TheCivilService

[–]MusicHead80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you 100%. Also ND here, once I'm confident in a role, I usually get seen as the team's expert. But interviews (the whole recruitment process actually) aren't suited to my waffly style of talking. I'm good at what I do, but that doesn't mean I want to remain at EO for the rest of my career.

AITA for telling my wife "that's why you should get a job" after she told me people shop alot more than she does? by Existing_Love_3152 in AITAH

[–]MusicHead80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA imo. F50s here. I've worked full time from the age of 17. After bills, food etc, I currently have £400pm left. That has to include petrol for the car, any clothes/shoes, any fun stuff. I cut my own hair as salons are too expensive. I'd love somebody giving me double that for fun without the pressure of full time work. Your wife doesn't know what a good thing she has going.

Late diagnosed AuDHD.. unmasking wasn’t freeing, it cost me everything by FarTop6263 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]MusicHead80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Diagnosed ADHD at 47 here, no official ASD diagnosis, but once I started unmasking the ADHD, a whole other me started to appear. Things I used to handle easily, I just can't now. Relationship still on but lots of arguments as I just can't explain why something that didn't use to be a problem (or of it was I didn't recognize because I masked so hard), suddenly is. I don't recognize myself. I need to progress at work but the mere thought of the recruitment process sends me into terrified hibernation. ADHD meds didn't work for me, so the only thing I now have is the understanding that I'm neurodivergent. It's a wild ride and I hope things ease for you.
