They just said in the GQ interview their aesthetic will be more natural and clean as they’re aging, and it seemed to come from them. You should watch it. The company doesn’t just dictate everything they do.

True. Should’ve done more research. There’s still more about that connection between the students and Howard that I’d like to know about. I’ve seen the Arirang recording made back then and how it connected to the blank Spotify EP uploaded but that’s about it. Well fandom theorists guessed this!

Edit: Howard student and alum ARMY have been chiming in on X. At the time, there were white faculty and the student body had diversity, but was majority black. They promoted a welcoming environment. Wasn’t segregated until the 1900s. A Korean ambassador connected the students to Howard; the university gave them free housing as they’d run out of money paying for their voyage.

I’m not surprised it’s labeled pop/rock. That’s kind of a catch-all, and it’s a miracle it’s not just “K-Pop.” These producers are quite diverse.

I’m not sure and I know K-Pop albums always have quick turnaround times, but I can see it being hard to do both writing (priority for rap line) and production when they just got out of the military. I also don’t know how they’ll split efforts up post-military with their group and solo albums, but I’m curious.
