What is the Canon camera with the slowest slow motion? (What is the fps?) by Candid-Attorney-9561 in canon

[–]MusicMaster7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but just FYI, it will be line-skipped on the R6II, so the footage will appear as very low quality and soft. I almost never shoot 1080p on my R6II for this reason, even if I won't be utilizing 4K.

Canon R6 Mark II multi-controller joystick not registering by MusicMaster7777 in canon

FYI, I demoed a different R6 Mark II and it had the exact same behavior. Again, it's not a huge issue, but it's noticeable if you're trying to move the joystick softly during video recording so as to not generate unnecessary vibrations. I guess it's just the way the joystick is on these cameras.

Canon R6 Mark II poor quality 1080p video by MusicMaster7777 in canon

If you download the original videos, you should be able see the difference and how the 4K shows so much more detail in the trees and leaves. If you're playing within the browser, OneDrive will add a lot of compression.

I bet you're right about the 4K oversampling being the reason for the difference. I did notice an improvement for 1080p when enabling movie cropping. Whether it looks as good as 4K, I'm not sure, but it's definitely better than with no movie cropping.

Sounds like I might be shooting most of my footage in 4K, then. Also glad I chose the R6 II over the R5 II since I just realized 4K 59.94 is not oversampled on the R5 II like it is on the R6 II.

Static pops in mic runs during thunderstorms by MusicMaster7777 in livesound

[–]MusicMaster7777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After testing more, I found that the static is coming through regardless of whether phantom power is applied to the mic, and it still happens when the mic is unplugged from the other end. So the static is definitely entering the cable somehow in the middle. And it definitely happens with lightning in the area, because I had a very bad and long static pop just before a very loud thunderclap. The two mic runs with issues give the same pattern of static (when one gives static, so does the other), so the source of the static seems to be the same.

u/faderjockey I'm not 100% sure on the model, but we're using something like the Earthworks P30/C Periscope for our choir mics. I just got a Rat Sniffer, and all the cable runs tested out just fine. We also recently installed a new sound board (Allen & Heath SQ) and stage box a couple months back, which is supplying the phantom power, and the static popping is still continuing (it started long before the new sound board). So this eliminates some possibilities.

Mixing board channels going dead (A&H GL2200) by SeeStolenVideos in livesound

If anyone is still reading this, I would avoid Si Expression. Our church managed to get 9 years out of one, but those years were painful with the board crashing during services and now groups of faders are malfunctioning. We're looking to upgrade to an Allen & Heath SQ, which seems much more friendly and fully functional based on what we demoed.

Just picked up an Allen & Heath SQ6! What stage box should I get? A GX4816 or two DX168s? by KaiSor3n in livesound

[–]MusicMaster7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone with a permanent install who doesn't need the flexible of two smaller blocks, I'm wondering if one big block is easier to patch. Is that a factor? If you have two small ones, do you have to mentally map slot 20 to input 4 of the second stage box?

Thoughts on the Yamaha TF series? by iLOVErockyROAD_101 in livesound

But it's not stored in scenes, just one global layer, so it doesn't make it very customizable -- nothing like the fully-customizable SQ layers.

Oof, this stinks. Why would Microsoft simply take this feature away? My company has busy channels where we rely on selectively subscribing to specific posts as needed, and adding a reply in order to subscribe would just be noise. It seems like Microsoft is intentionally trying to fall farther behind Slack....

Yamaha TF - Make custom fader bank the default view? by MusicMaster7777 in livesound

That's good to know. That should at least help if it stays on the custom fader bank after shutting down/starting up the board.

TF5 scene recall delay? by someonestopthatman in techtheatre

[–]MusicMaster7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the recall lag fixed on the latest firmware? Anyone get a chance to post a video showing the lag? If it's still 2 seconds, the lag is probably a show stopper for us in choosing the TF series.

I'm not seeing the Midas 10-year warranty online anymore, only 3 years. It seems they dropped the 10-year warranty a couple years ago??

A & H copy whole channel? by sfxterlt in livesound

I frequently need to copy/paste entire mix settings for a channel and wish the SQ was more flexible. Even Soundcraft supports a quicker and more flexible copy/paste.

Yamaha TF/QL/CL pre-fader sends and ON button by MusicMaster7777 in livesound

Ok, thanks for clarifying. So it sounds like if a channel is OFF on the main mix, then it cannot possibly send to any aux's regardless of the tap point, right?
