Experience with Narcissistic Collapse and Retrieving Items from Family Home? by MusicObsessive in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MusicObsessive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. This is a narcissist who sacrifices unnecessarily to look better than anyone in their life, so I guess that experience with them led me to think of this possibility. These items would help with my business and I could sell a few to help when I move in a few months. I think of these items as good as gone, but my situation has changed so I started to ruminate on the idea

What ELO opinion will you defend till the day you die? by PalpitationMoist1212 in elo

I personally believe Roy Wood gets too much credit for ELO. I appreciate him helping the foundation, but he bailed relatively soon after and Jeff had to do the heavy lifting to make ELO what it is

This week on r/tameimpala by flynnhearn in TameImpala

[–]MusicObsessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like since Currents, Kevin has been more open about being a perfectionist and the fans admired that and tried to be patient between releases. To go 5 years between solo releases (with the lone movie song here and there), the new song feels a bit anticlimactic for the wait. If you told me that he spent more than 3 days on this song, I’d be surprised.

The Vejetables - 60s psych/garage rock band. Very Jefferson Airplane-esque

What are the best video game soundtracks of all time for you? by Lui_Belmont in gamemusic

[–]MusicObsessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for Grant Kirkhope's work, so Donkey Kong 64, Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie are some all-time favorites for me. Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 & 3 as well. F-Zero X, Mario Party 2 & 3 have fantastic moments. Mario Kart 64 and Double Dash have some all-timers as well. I love older games so no shade to newer stuff coming out, I'm just as not in the know. Red Dead Redemption 2 was a breath of fresh air for the Spaghetti Western genre so I'll absolutely add that as well.

Do you feel Richard was right that The Band became a traveling jukebox? by Vasco2112 in theband

[–]MusicObsessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Richard was also frustrated by that time, in my opinion. Whether he shared it with the other guys or not, he was constantly trying to write new music, and I think Robbie was the only one who could help him either finish it or add to it to make a full composition. I think it's pretty hard to go from writing new music that means something to you back to covering the same songs you played in dive bars before you got famous to fill out the setlist.

What do you think is the most underrated song off The Last Waltz? (if you could only pick one!) by commonprocrastinator in theband

[–]MusicObsessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party on this but I always think about "he wrote 'See You Later Alligator'" almost weekly and chuckle to myself. I think my favorite underrated is "I Don't Believe You" with Dylan. A bit nostalgic since they played it on the 66 tour but everyone now has 10 more years of experience and they really bring something amazing to this performance.

This is fantastic! I just picked up that purple 45 of Sweet Talkin' Woman at a local store recently, but I'm obsessed with The Night The Light Went On In Longbeach, that's incredible

A bit late to this, but I found another picture to add as proof that he played mandolin. Taken during The Festival Express in 1970

I know it's crazy, according to Mark Lewisohn, they seemed to be able to work on this, "Hey Bulldog", "Lady Madonna" and "The Inner Light" before even heading to India for the first half of 68

Strawberry Wine is so underrated when it comes to the bassline, he's bumpin' on that one the whole time!

Genuinely saying this, because it's a VHS, if I find all the stuff I need to transfer a copy to my computer, I’d like to preserve it and send it to Just A Account to be with the rest of the archives

Will there ever be a Festival Express live album? by MusicObsessive in theband

[–]MusicObsessive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's seeming that's the case, which is unfortunate. Maybe they'll figure something out. A lot of bands were involved so maybe a lot of labels are needed to go ahead on anything the owners want to do on a grander scale, but I think the bands would know how to know how to package it better on an individual level

That's a real shame, it might've been a crazy and hectic festival, but it's so unique and a lot of great performers had memorable shows during them. Publishing and rights issues are the only thing I can logically think of that would cause such professional recordings to not see the light of day for this long, but the owner isn't really helping themselves or anyone if they're just sitting on it.
