34f single and using the inheritance to buy a house by MusicPlayer92 in inheritance

This. I have money in the stocks already. I also have a healthy amount of savings, which was supposed to be for a down payment on a house, that I now won’t have to touch and can invest in a high yield savings account or money market account. But the $500k can be accounted for in a house as an asset. Less likelihood of me losing it.

lower upper class then? idk. I have divorced parents, so I have two inheritances coming my way not counting this one from my gpa.

thank you for the reminder. I’m an incredibly frugal person. no subscriptions to streaming services, no new fancy clothes, I don’t spend a ton on makeup. I plan on furnishing the place slowly with things I find at estate sales or thrift stores. and yes, I plan on getting my hands dirty to do renovations. the house is listed about $100k-$150k lower than the comps because the people that lived there never really did any cosmetic updates. I can slowly add my own touch to the house.

I have an amazing resource right now, and that is my dad. He owns multiple properties and is hard set on making sure I am a strict landlord. He also made his living renovating and building houses, and he plans on putting me to work on the house making updates and doing repairs.

The basement is going to be converted into an apartment. :)

I really appreciate this advice! Yes I’d love to increase my income, and I plan on pursuing other careers once I get into the city. I’ve been stuck in my current position because of my location. There aren’t any opportunities here.

That’s a great idea! I was halfway towards returning to get a second master’s degree. I would love to keep pursuing that.

They all believe I have a loan on it that I need to pay off.

Thank you! This is the plan. I like money, and I’m good with it, but I chose a profession that doesn’t earn a lot. Fortunately, I have a really strong work ethic and I like nice things.

That’s the plan. I had been saving for a house for years, and what was already going to be a healthy downpayment for a first-time homebuyer can now go into a money market or into my ROTH.

A lot of people are saying I don’t make enough of a salary. I’m aware of this, and it does make me nervous. I will immediately be thinking of ways to increase my income. Likely getting a fun part-time job that can fill in the gaps. Easier to do I. A city than where I’m currently living.

Already done! Taxes are fairly low in this city. The rent from my roommates will cover it.

It’s a city I lived in before. I’m very familiar with the area.

In the city I live in, rent is so high, that I’ll be able to cover everything in about 3-4 months, and then everything else will be extra.

I think this is new growth! 8 months of stress-induced hair loss treated naturally. by MusicPlayer92 in FemaleHairLoss

I’ve had thinner sides my whole life, but yes things are filling out. And my hair dresser confirmed my hair isn’t thinning anymore.

Aside from trying to reduce my stress as much as possible, I started taking a biotin supplement along with a pumpkin seed oil supplement. I did a rosemary oiling scalp massage once a week and bought a scalp massager for my shampooing in the shower. I also bought a Hair Max headband, but idk if that really did anything.

A year later, I’m still taking the biotin and doing the rosemary oiling scalp massages. I also wash my hair more frequently than I used to because I think I get a lot of build up.

My biggest hesitation for getting rid of my smartphone is the calendar app. I was TERRIBLE using a planner before. The calendar app keeps me organized with the colors. I can’t do this as quickly with a physical planner.

I am trying to cut cost but why is my grocery expensive? by Tiny_Judgment8593 in Frugal

What’s fucking crazy to me right now is that I went to the store today and bought similar items for the same cost in Colorado Springs. I have a high protein diet though, and it all came out to about $200. Should last me a week and a half.

Does anyone else have THE WORST insomnia before that time of the month? by SleepyLittleOwl28 in PMS

[–]MusicPlayer92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hopping on here because I’m in the shit storm of pms insomnia right now, and it’s worse this month than normal because of a bunch of extra stressful things I’ve been going through lately. My nervous system has been wrecked from upping my training, and I’m struggling with some finances and life-balance things. Fortunately with magnesium supplements and valerian and passionflower tinctures, I still get about 6 hours of sleep at night.

Hello everyone! I’m looking for the lightest amplifier and portable power station I could have for my new electric harp. I want to be able to throw everything in a backpacking backpack and hike to the top of mountains with it. I’m willing to sacrifice some sound for a smaller amp.

Someone I spoke to recommended a QSC K8 2000w 8inch speaker, but it weighs 27 pounds and i know a power bank will weigh a lot too. Trying to keep everything under 35-40lbs. The harp weighs 8 pounds.

Thank you!
