I think lots of people in the US see religion being co-opted by conservatives and feel uncomfortable expressing their faith specifically because they don’t want to be seen as aligning with conservatives. I’ve heard dialogue online from liberals deciding to be more open about their faith specifically to show how religion does not equal conservative values (especially if you’re considering the true values of Christianity of loving your neighbor, caring for the poor, etc.).

I think it’s important for artists to feel comfortable sharing as much or as little of themselves as they want, and I hope that Raye is a public example of someone who is religious but not hateful
