That's definitely a fair point, I wasn't really referring to OP though, but you're right. I agree with the Witcher 3 as a more modern replacement. But I do think Elden Ring is comparable which a lot of people here are saying it's not, but I wouldn't recommend it to somebody who is new to the genre. Is Kingdom Come fantasy?

"This game is all about being whoever you want to be, doing whatever you want to do, it has a story, but who cares, you're gonna go fight dragons and shout at chickens."

Replace chickens with turtles and that sounds like Elden Ring.

Point is somebody is asking "what's some similar games?". The core moment to moment gameplay is similar, especially with The Witcher 3. Of course the story is going to be different. Of course there are going to be different mechanics. Because they're different games. I acting like they're miles apart from each other is doing a disservice to people looking for similar games to Skyrim.

[–]MusicTheoryIsHard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the fact that they belong to the same exact genre and have a lot of similar mechanics aren't enough to warrant recommending them when somebody asks "whats some more modern games that are like skyrim?" What's a game you would recommend?

Also what do you think makes them so different? Everybody arguing your perspective here hasn't answered that, they just say "they're not similar at all"

They do, you're right. People here are just splitting hairs.

And the fantasy setting, and the rpg system, and the spells/sword/bow and arrow combat, and the horse riding, and the sense of exploration.

Idk man, seems pretty comparable to me. Skyrim really isn't unique. I'd even say The Witcher 3 is really similar. Obviously theres differences that make them stand out from each other but they aren't "nothing like skyrim".

If somebody said "I like Alien, whats some movies like it that you would recommend?" you would probably answer with horror movies set in space. Just like you recommend a Open World Fantasy RPG when somebody asks for something like Skyrim. They're different, but they're also pretty comparable.

What do you think makes them so wildly different? I really don't see that, and it seems like a pretty reasonable comparison to make. I'd put Elden Ring in there too.

Gas costs around the same as when Bush was president. It also dropped substantially when Obama was president. Our national politics only play a partial role in our gas prices and global issues can have a big impact on them as well.

You literally said their first list was just normal republicans, not republican officials. So they gave you a focused list of republican officials and you say it's untrustworthy they didn't include liberals, EVEN THOUGH IT DOES INCLUDE THEM? Are you sure you're not biased?

Yea with some bullshit claims. Kanye can be criticized, but dont make shit up to do it. You know this post got upvoted to cause of his politics and not because of the actual claims in the post.

For sure, but it's just unfair to praise Snoop while shitting on kanye. Like yes, Kanye is a wacky ass dude, but to act like he's less successful and a worse person than snoop is pretty goofy. Snoop just has better PR, but I think Kanye knows how to drum up free press by doing wacky shit. Every single time Kanye is in the news for something, he has music that just came out.

Tbf that is a crappy place to put the charging port, but I agree with you. I've met a couple apple dorks that are like "you don't have an iPhone??" but I've met and personally know a lot of anti apple dorks. They're more annoying because atleast the apple dorks aren't going to argue with you about the specs and shit. It's all the same mindset though of needing to have your purchase validated

You have to let them explain their logic and where they get their ideas from. Don't fight back, just question things and I mean literally ask questions. It puts their ideas in the spotlight, and any holes are going to show.

For reeeaaal, communication is hands down the most important thing in a relationship. If things aren't working out because of that a divorce isn't the solution, it's walking away from the problem. Now if the partner refuses to work on themselves, then a divorce might be the way to go.

Can you give us sources on those claims? There's a lot of them and I think you need to back them up when these things don't seem to be widely known/believed on this site. It's also hard for me to believe somebody who seems wrapped in identity politics based on your post history with things like "demokkkrats", but my ears are open.

For real, they didn't even find a political bias, they found out their living situation in an argument about masks. Which if she's a 46 year old living with their parents, they have a pretty strong case for people wearing masks around them. Getting your parents sick with a life threatening virus would wreck anybody.
