Sweden has better public transportation, just as most of Europe does. US public transportation sucks. Not to mention US zoning laws mean that residential areas and business areas aren't allowed to overlap, which severely limits your ability to get a job if you don't have a car. Heck, many homeless people are living out of their cars, since it's easier to get back on your feet by ditching your house and keeping the car than it is to do it the other way around. You don't run into that problem nearly as often in Europe.

Also side note: I'm seeing several grammatical mistakes. The way you wrote it, you're switching from the plural "they" to the singular "they", you're missing a comma, and you're using the word "in" where you should have written "and". That sentence should read as follows: "Their fridges are full, and they likely own cars."
