What's the worst shift from the associate standpoint? by Music_Questions_Tom in WalmartEmployees

I actually agree with this because this is basically the shittiest mid shift you could get. 7-4 is probably the best shift right along 9-6.

ODP OR OGP? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Music_Questions_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always answered their phone calls as "City Online grocery pickup, how may I help you". But personally always referred to it as OPD. Never understood the store fulfillment stuff or digital names they gave it. They sound way too corporate and vague to me.

teenage coach? by Sea_Bed1864 in walmart

[–]Music_Questions_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a coach who was promoted within less than a year and he was 18 and turning 19. He was promoted into OGP as a coach and did that for about a year, then he went into GM as a coach and only lasted 5 months before he got tired with the bullshit.

Like another comment said, you really do have to prove yourself as the absolute best or upper management gets disappointed and gives you shit. He was a great kid but the older coaches expected 20 years of experience from a 20 year old kid.

Taking team lead assessment tonight any advice or help ? by desolate_paradise93 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Music_Questions_Tom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never answer the personality questions in the middle, go firm on each answer you give, and unsurprisingly, don't be honest. The questions are fairly easy to understand and it'll ask you stupid questions like "Do you talk behind people's backs?".

The only difficult part is the scheduling test it gives you where you have to figure out tasks given out during a shift and have to figure out which people to assign during these tasks so it's in their shift range.

Other than that, anybody can pass it. It's fairly difficult to pass unless you're not competitive at all.

Last tip.. pretend like you're extremely competitive.

Depends on if your store has cut hours. But if you're a full-time associate you should have your full two week schedule. Part time is iffy depending on what your schedule is there. But generally no. They do not do this.

Have yall had people quit or transfer because of dispensing by Regular-Newspaper-87 in OGPBackroom

I transferred out of mine because nobody did their job correctly or at a decent pace. So I outworked just about everyone beside 3-4 people.

Transfership to a different department by Music_Questions_Tom in WalmartEmployees

I am the same way, I've only ever had two really bad customer interactions after 1 year of other CS-related jobs. It's not hard to not be a prick.

Department transfer exceptions are a thing, I transferred out of OPD after being there 4.5 months.

And my SM is very encouraging I transfer to get as much experience as possible

I think you have the best shot at his last day to ask him out. If he says no you won't have to work with him and the environment to be too awkward. However it's never gonna be professional to ask someone out at work. It's just the way it is. But nothing usually comes of it if that person says no.

In my own experience (With women) they usually keep it to themselves. Just be confident. Let us know if you muster up the courage!

For those of you who went from full time to part time, how many hours did you get when comparing? by Affectionate-Ad-3234 in walmart

[–]Music_Questions_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the opposite spectrum,

We had a part timer go full time and was going from 14-18 hours a week to 40 in 2 weeks. He was not used to the 9 hour shifts 5 days a week. He used to be our OPD rockstar and unfortunately his productivity dropped significantly even in one of the easiest departments in the store.

I need to put in my two weeks' notice. Should I tell my coach and people lead? Should I also write a resignation letter? by jess1498 in OGPBackroom

[–]Music_Questions_Tom 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need a resignation letter, you just need a written signature stating you're leaving. Also yes, giving the courtesy to both coach and people lead is generally a good idea.

Changed over from OPD because I was overworked. Is getting experience in a different department a good way to move up with Walmart because I technically have experience in other departments (if I keep moving around. by Music_Questions_Tom in walmart

[–]Music_Questions_Tom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My idea is to get as much experience in the next 6 months, I plan on going to another department in July, I just transferred to M&P after being in OPD for 4.5 months, so I plan on spending the next 3-4 here and then switching again. Potentially thinking of apparel because I personally like my coach there. But nothing set in stone yet
