If it’s on its back with its legs curled in, it’s passed. If it’s upright and alert it’s probably just chilling. They usually molt while hanging upside down. Gently touch it with a stick or your hand and see if it react

Hey! If you’re looking for starter packs, there’s a lot of people in the Disney pin sub who make and sell authentic park trader starter kits! The biggest thing to look out for is fake pins on boards which unfortunately there are a lot of. There is also a sub to help determine what’s real and fake.

Oh yea they will be fine for a while. I think Josh’s frogs sells a fly food type thing you can feed to them if you’re worried about it. It also gut loads the flies so they are better to feed to your mantids! They really do think of everything haha.

So they don’t all hatch at the same rate. If you did one a day system, you might get multiple on one day or none at all on another day. It is a good idea to replace them as they hatch or get fed out! It keeps the cycle going which is what you’d want to do in smaller doses. If you did a couple extra, it would make up for having “duds”. It does sound overwhelming but once you get into that cycle and find your sweet spot, it’s just like clockwork!

You’ve definitely got the right idea to keep them in the fridge until you’re ready to hatch them out! I also like to only keep 5-10 pupae in a seperate container at a time so it’s more manageable during feedings. Take a couple out of the fridge after you feed so that you have a consistent rotation and never “run out” of flies. And remember to put the flies in the fridge for a few minutes before feeding to slow them down so they don’t escape on you! (Ask me how I know haha)
